Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Temple bar should be closed down completely unless they reduce their idiotic prices for a bloody pint.

    €8 for a pint of Guinness and €8.90 for a pint of Heineken. I would understand €6.50 maybe in the center of Dublin in a tourist area.
    They do not advertise their prices anywhere view able and then when I refused to take the drinks and told them I would leave the bouncer was called in and wouldn't let me leave until I paid for the drinks, or else they were calling the Gardai.
    Needless to say I told them to call the Gardai as they were trying to rob me, they let me go eventually.

    Ended up in a much nicer pub, much quieter and feck all tourists and paid €5.80 for my Heineken and €5.40 for the Guinness.

    I thought pubs had to display prices inside the door ?

    In fact when I was a student doing bar work i filled up that form and put it inside the front doors.

    Bars got an easy to read template to complete and hang up

    Why should people be stigmatised like that? If you’re receiving benefits because you are seriously ill or of pension age, why add insult to injury? And would anyone begrudge somebody who is seriously ill or a pensioner treating themselves to something non-essential every once in a while?

    A fool and his money, I wouldn't abide having to fork out more than a fiver for Arthur. Let the gullible tourists empty their pockets. Surprised if many locals supped away in Temple Bar, a mugs paradise.

    Not quite - I know a guy who can speak Irish, Welsh and Spanish.

    Yes I know, but you won't find many places less than that in Dublin City Center. Unfortunately I was there for a party so had no option but to stay in Dublin.

    Maybe there was, I didn't look just inside the door. I was looking in the area the bar was.

    I have no problem with ticket touting

    I don't get why it's okay for other limited resources to be freely priced by the market but with tickets it's deemed unethical

    If ticketmaster prices them at €80, they sell out and people are willing to then pay €100 then away with them

    Same deal when it comes to touts buying in bulk as opposed to just 1 everyday guy trying to turn a quick buck, no different to a property developer buying all the houses, it's a risk to make a bigger profit

    i dont see the problem with it either.
    its business. you buy when they are cheap and sell for as high as the market will bear. that business 101. nothing wrong with that at all.
    the price is set by what people will pay. if people paid less then the price would go down and it wouldnt be worth these people doing it.

    It's not business. Business is regulated and they pay tax. This is simply ripping people off. Plus people get ripped off twice if the concert is cancelled and the money is refunded to the person who initially bought the ticket.

    It would end tomorrow if people sucked it in and had the restraint not to buy from touts. You can continue living without going to a concert.

    Thank you, It would simply dehumanise and desocialise. and ensure a greater dependency on welfare by removing social skills. Another form of institutionalisation.

    In the US it does not work as folk sell their food stamps anyways :rolleyes:
