I wonder would they be looking for someone with 20 or even 30 years experience by the time they interview you. It might even be time to retire by the time you get the necessary experience. I guess now that there are no jobs in civil engineering they can ask for what they like.

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place but I'm gonna shoot anyway! I'm 27 been working since my leaving in construction and motor mechanics. I'm going back to study mechatronic engineering in sept. (well I'm hoping to at any rate!) I've been unemployed for a few weeks and I'm interested in trying to get a bit of unpaid experience in an engineering discipline. I'm open to anything so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance

    From Irishjobs.ie

The EirGrid Graduate Development Programme is aimed at new and recently qualified engineering graduates.

Over a period of 24 months graduates will undertake two placements and upon completion will move from graduate to professional status. Each graduate will spend 9 - 12 months in an initial placement and 12-15 months in a second placement, before being assigned to a final placement at the end of the graduate period.

It is intended that this programme will enable the graduate to gain exposure to, and an understanding of, aspects of the technical, commercial, project, operational, regulatory, analytical, financial, research and market activities undertaken by EirGrid professionals
