Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Every time I hear Rory McIlroy I'm reminded how he once had lived through a fit of "mental fatigue", where his golf suffered.

    Imagine how stressful it must be for athletes like boxers or sprinters, who do the same only in non-lame, athletically-challenging sports.

    I have thought the same at Premiership games. I mean I know all about the wages etc but fcuk me when I think about it performing in front of 40-50k baying supporters hurling dogs abuse at you. If you are not in the best of form there is no hiding from it.

    Heard Mcllroy say years ago that the gui helped him alot with his career when he was younger. The gui is an all ireland association like the irfu in the rugby. I think he is a brit in disguise. Turn coat.

    surprised with this, I don't think a lot of the pro golfers have any great time for the Olympics, imo It should be for amateurs only and those who do well can decide if they want to turn pro, at the last Olympics Leona Maguire (I might have the name wrong) competed as an amateur in the last olympics and is now doing well in the pro ranks having recently won a tournament, rory will do well for us and it will be another good chance for a medal along with some of our boxers, he talked very positive about competing for Ireland while as an amateur

    In golfing terms, facilities & physio wise, is team Ireland better equipped than team GB/NI, or is team GB/NI better equipped ??? Would there be a reason for him other than national allegiance to choose one team over another?

    In golfing terms - none of these players will be using anyone other than their own physios, doctors and coaches. Its essentially irrelevant.

    Ah no, these are all professionals, they all have their own coaches and training regimes. The'll just treat this like another event on tour.

    If this were an amateur competition (which it should be imo) then there may be some advantages to declaring for GB with their bigger budget.. wider access to coaching etc....

    Don’t know about primary school but he went to Sullivan upper at high school stage that is certainly not a catholic school. It’s a rugby school hence why he is very into the Ulster rugby games.

    Rugby does not make you a unionist.

    Anyhow do your research.

    He went to St Patrick Primary School which is Catholic and then to O'Sullivan Upper School which is muli-denominational.

    Guy has said he's going to play for Ireland so I dont see what the big deal is.

    “O’Sullivan school” where did the O’ come from?

    Anyway I doubt he is political at all anyway. The fact that so many dislike him because he refuses to partake in a pile of paddywhackery is amusing though.

    I don’t think some have forgiven him for the horrible crime of wrapping a NI red hand flag around him a few times.

    Unionists are a bit miffed. They thought the 'Northern Irish' identity was going to save them. Read the threads on Rory designating himself as that in the politics forum for a taste of what they thought it meant.
