I am very happy with Meyler taking over. I really think he could do very well.

I hope I am proved right!

As you say ECKS, the backroom team is vital especially nowadays

Great appointment, knows the players, knows the opposition, rakes of experience. Hopefully the same backroom team...and a wee bit of input from Kingston could help. Best of luck for league and championship.

Meyler is a very good choice.

I don't think this is a good appointment at all.Meyler would be an establishment man.But i hope to be proven wrong.

He has the experience of managing other countues already. He has been involved for the past few years. He is a well respected individual in Cork hurling. He ticks a lot of boxes.

Jesus i dunno lads. It's a very underwhelming appointment. He has zero experience of success at senior level, bar a micky mouse cup with Kerry. Having said that, people were eery about Kingston's appointment too. He didn't inspire much confidence from the U21 performance this year, even with the 2 lads were missing v limerick.

It'll be interesting to see who he has in the backroom. He'll need a strong one. Early word is Donal O'Mahony is one of the backroom.

Supposedly Frank is staying on. To be confirmed at Monday's meeting.

John Myler appointment, a good old solid inside job by Frank and the County Board . It's just moving chairs around. We will give him every chance but he will need a very good backroom team with him. No surprise that Frank is staying.

With the injuries he's had I'd wonder if he's even fit enough to play inter county football again, they have to have taken their toll.

Hopefully I'm wrong as he was a fantastic player.

    Yes that's very true

It could be worthwhile for Cork Gaa to bring him home and even work on his issues for a yr. Give him the best medical care etc and see where he is in a year

He's only 26 and would be a massive addition to Cork if we could get him right

He was a huge reason why we won the 2010 all ireland an i do think he will have a lot to offer in the future unless he stays in OZ

No joy for the Barrs as Nemo win on a scoreline of 4-12 v 3-13

Good win for Imokilly. Poor enough game overall. Paudie Sull didnt puck a ball in the second half, and only for the goal Harnedy was kept under wraps by Niall Cashman. Cian Fleming who so much was expected was hauled ashore early. Brian Lawton and Ger Millerick won the midfield battle. A shame they cant go on and represent Cork. Blackrock wouldnt be within an asses roar of Munster.

Proud day for Cork Gaa, super Stadium. Saw the first one been built and have great memories of matches there. Don't think I will be around for the next one. Two Finals weren't classics but both gave entertainment to us. Great to see See Seamie Hardney captain Imokilly, had a average game but still came up with the scores. The Rockies could be on the rise again but why did they not bring on no 18 Tadgh Deasy earlier caused a lot of problems for Imokilly defence.

Why is it a shame? Only clubs can play in the Munster CLUB championship.

Handy win for Kanturk over St. Marys.

Well the colleges are allowed. These fellas are more of a club than them surely. Not having a pop at the colleges, I agree with them being in the championship.

I've no issue with the divisions being in the senior championship. Players should be allowed that themselves against the best if they're good enough. The likes of Harnedy/Paudie definitely deserve the chance to win a senior county medal.

Paudie had a chance already, three in fact

good article in the independent on the run up to the meeting and background to the "process" of getting the extension approved , and the various extensions over the years
The long goodbye for Cork GAA's grand master
Board's 12-month extension means Murphy's Law will continue for an incredible 45 years
Delegates to Cork County Board and supporters across the county could have been forgiven on Tuesday night if they felt a sense of deja-vu about the announcement that Frank Murphy was to have his contract as secretary extended by a further year and that in June the process to replace him would commence.
Sound familiar? That's because such a declaration has been made before, three times since this, the longest of long goodbyes, began in September 2009.

absolutely. don't know much about the structure of the championship but a real mess to rush every thing now and not play a few rounds in the summer. All Ireland series played after Christmas like the men so I don't know why the Munster fixture couldn't be put back a week atleast
