Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Emergency buildingworks school

    Hi all if I'm in the wrong place please redirect me.
    So my query relates to school accessibility and inclusion for all,
    Both my sons were diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy last January. 1 in senior infants and another set to start in junior this Sept.
    The school is unsuitable for children with disabilities, Occupational therapist made recommendations for emergency building works, engineer drew up plans, all was submitted to the department of education and that is where the trail seems to have ended.
    The school is small in pupil numbers and my fear is that the works will not be done to accommadate the boys.
    Anyone on here have any experience or knowledge.

    OTs can make all sorts of recommendations, but the DES doesn’t follow through at times.And even if they do, it can be really slow .
    With Covid , the lockdown would have been the ideal time to modify the school .
    Has the principal contacted the building section of the DES ? Is the SENO involved?
    Sorry to hear about your boys needing adaptions , I hope you get the support they need.
