No need for a big blog of what is and is not acceptable here. This place is a forum catering for and encoraging off everything that pertains to the sport of horse racing. Other sports are catered for in the sports boards and will happily be entertained.

Please keep all discussions civil and bad language free. I am not a dictator but I will ban anybody who abuses any other poster. No questions.

As you can see, at the top of this forum is a thread for tips. Anybody and everybody is welcome to submit their tips for any race on that thread. You are also welcome to give feedback on the success/lack of success on each tip. Again, please keep your comments civil when doing this. I will not allow any post which contains "I lost my ****ing house on that donkey you muppet" type comments. If you loose your house, live on the street, or buy another. It's nobodys falut but your own.

Finally, there is a lot more to horse racing than just betting. Feel free to discuss any/all aspects of this wonderful sport, and enjoy the forum.

    Hobart.

In light of recent events I think it's necessary to reiterate a few points about how to post on this forum. Please read the following information and take note of it, or else you risk being banned.

    Posting tips
When posting a tip, please try to give as much information as is possible. For instance, does the person who gave you this tip have a relatively good strike rate with you? Is it their first time giving you a tip for a horse? What exactly did they say about this particular tip? Answers to these questions are helpful to everyone when trying to determine the horses chances.

    Posting a selection
A selection is basically a horse you have selected , from a race, whom you think has a good chance of winning. It is not a tip. When posting your selections, please give as much information as possible to back up why you think this horse has a good chance. This style of selection posting will aid in the education of fellow posters, and thus, make this forum a valuable learning centre. I am aware that sometimes you may not have a the time to post reasons for your selections, it happens to everyone from time to time, but please try to keep this to a minimum. The best way to post selections is in a "daily selection's" thread, i.e "Thursday's Selections". This thread can be used by everyone to post their selections in.

Selections and/or tips which are not backed up will result in the user being banned on the spot - no questions asked. Comments such as "put your house on it", "there's no way it will lose" will not be tolerated.

Just a quick update to the Horse Racing Charter:

    General
Do not post any personal information - the post will be edited. Use the PM system to exchange any contact or personal information.

Also, do not use text speak. You will be banned and the posts deleted if you do.

    Flaming
Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited/deleted. Attack the post, not the poster. Minor infringements will warrant a warning followed by a ban. Serious infringements and/or intentional flaming will receive an automatic ban.

    Images
Posting of images is welcome, however please make sure that you have permission to post the image!

    Advertising

The advertising of services/blogs/sites is prohibited - all threads will be deleted and the user banned.

The advertising of horses for sale is strictly prohibited.

    Spamming
Topics/posts that are just complete nonsense will be deleted, and the user will be infracted/banned.

    Shilling
A shill is a user who plugs things on the sly. Any user found out to be a shill will be perm-banned from boards. You have been warned.

    Trolling
A troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Just as bad as trolling is "Feeding the Trolls". Please do not reply to comments that are blatantly from a troll. Do not to abuse them or call these posters trolls. It is up to the moderators to judge this, so simply report the posts or private message any moderator of after hours. At the point at which a troll has gotten a negative reply from you they have won. The trolling was successful and has been fed. When encouraged by success and feeding, trolls often return.

    Racism
Topics/posts containing such will be edited/deleted accordingly.

    Sexism
Sexism and sexist comments will not be tolerated. Refrain from making sexist jokes, degrading, slagging or dismissing of women whether you think it's funny or not.

    Reporting Posts

If you have a problem with any post or notice that a post is in breach of the Charter, then use the 'report post' button

    'Thanks' Function

Please feel free to leave "thanks" for any poster that has been helpful towards you, however this is entirely your responsibility. Asking or demanding thanks is not allowed and offences will be deleted , and may result in infractions and banings.

    Other
As per boards.ie rules, distribution or aiding the distribution of illegal material is completely forbidden. All other standard boards.ie rules and guidelines stand.

This charter is a guide, not an exhaustive list.

If you have any questions, pm myself, Beasty, GavRedKing or sparks.

As per new general boards.ie guidelines, if you have a query about moderator actions please post in DRP, rather than posting in the Feedback forum.

Any derailment of a thread by the continued discussion of moderator's actions will result in your posts being deleted and a ban being issued.

... To draw your attention to the following points:

    Flaming
Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited/deleted. Attack the post, not the poster. Minor infringements will warrant a warning followed by a ban. Serious infringements and/or intentional flaming will receive an automatic ban.

    Reporting Posts
If you have a problem with any post or notice that a post is in breach of the Charter, then use the 'report post' button.

Anyone who insults or attacks other posters will be infracted and/or banned from the forum. And remember, if you have a problem with a post or PM, please report it - don't get drawn into a tit-for-tat - you'll only receive an infraction and/or ban.

Megatron: This is a crucial bet in the forum. Generally done on a Saturday or any big race day, with the imperative inclusion of Liverpool.

Still not quite sure what it is, though don't hesitate to ask on thread.
