Finally got a picture of this guy on motion sensor camera, apologies for poor quality, his rotund stomach is partly down to my crocus bulbs he’s been snacking on all winter:

I was not really expected to see a Corncrake so early in the year, but you can't beat local knowledge. I was tipped off about a lane in Belmullet peninsula and got lucky. They are smaller than I thought and they navigate under the nettles similar to a rodent...they are very fast too.

You can see it out of focus behind the plant, it is the best I got in the 1 or 2 seconds window I got.

Loads of wheatear and skylarks too...and I need confirmation if the past pic is a linnet or twite?

Oh the fox and cubs are so adorable - we have two foxes that come into the garden at twilight -I'm hopeful they'll turn up with cubs one of these evenings - fab shots!

A male Orange-tip butterfly. You can see a hint of orange on the edge of the upper wing.

Can anyone please help to id the prey the birds has in the first pic? It looks like some kind of rodent, which is a bit unusual for a sparrowhawk I think?

Hard to tell - might just be a 'stripped back' (i.e. head, wings etc removed) bird? Have seen Kestrel predating Tern chicks and they got rid of the head, wings etc and just took and ate the body.

Thank OYE, makes sense. My money is on magpie chicks then based on the significant scuffle between these two minutes before, what is what led me to find the sparrowhawk.

Took this shot through kitchen window. Young robin in back yard early in the morning looking for cast offs from bird feeders.

I can't make out the size properly, but isn't that a juvenile robin?
