Re the ASU video, the sirens are truly pathetic on those things.

I've emailed the Garda traffic section.

I got back they meet EU standard and the same with the unmarked i30/40.

You actually can't see any blue light from behind but stand at a 45° angle and you can.

If I drove them I would not bring them out as they are not safe.

Remember the focus, Mondeo even the vectras had a better light set up where the block led was in the rear centre brake light which could be seen much better(not the best but could be seen)

    More people need to complain.

SOMEBODY'S responsible for the sirens/rear strobe light visibility....if you check out the HSE/DFB i30/40's the rear strobes are a lot more visible from directly behind. The black i40 traffic on the N11 has good visibility, MAYBE these cars are sent back to the Garage with a request for 'BETTER REAR STROBES' ? (Just a technical thought - if the garage are fitting strobes BESIDE the original bulbs then the reflector won't send the beam out directly behind, but at the 45 degree mentioned...but if the strobes are fitted from the top/bottom so they 'block' the original bulb (which is still visible through the strobe) then the reflector will throw the strobe beam directly behind as is needed...as I said, just a thought )

Traffic corps units had the red/blue led blocks fitted to stand out more.
Obviously it's roads policing now but the 2016/17model got the upgrade in some.

They need to look at the UK and preferably the USA as by God they have some serious kitbon the cars.

There are extras now in the marked i40 where not only is the roof lighting but there are 2 huge blue blocks in the rear window also.

Not sure, but the driving school i40 is probably pretty well lit up, even the roof bar is on stilts. The Insignias might have come from the factory with the lights fitted as GM were offering police spec.

Saw one of the new Roads Policing Tuscons the other day. Seemed to be lit up like a Christmas tree and pretty loud too, for a change.

Wonder if HSE / Gardai are kitted out by different workshops - HSE jeep on the N11 tonight , EVERYONE moved out of his way because the lighting/siren were super bright/ loud.

Saw a 07 silver marked focus today.

That must be in rag order. How would anyone think that’s still safe to drive?

Local Detectives are still driving a 2007 Fiesta and a 2006 Corolla. The mileage on them must be colossal by now.

Saw a silver/light grey unmarked VW golf today in Dublin. The thing was lit up like a christmas tree.

I saw it from a distance but it looked fairly high spec. Large alloys and what looked like the R-Line body kit, could have been a GTI or a R.

Anyone have any more details as to the spec?

Anyone able to confirm if the unmarked navy Pajero and the unmarked black landcruiser are still on the go over castlebar direction. I'm near certain I saw the Pajero last week. But I thought both had been retired.

I was very impressed to see that car in the video, Gardai with VW sports cars is very rare.
Pity it is another hand me down from the criminal fraternity though, same as that 4x4 that ended up with the ASU.
Seems we will never see the end of recessionary thinking in this country, so its the cheapest for the general Garda fleet, unless of course there are some tasty hand me downs from criminals.

Saw an unmarked Focus ST (grey) tear up the M50 today with blues on. Do the Gardai have many of these? Heard there is one in Blanchardstown.

By Custom I'm pretty sure he meant the spec/van body not Customs themselves. Like Transit Connect or Transit Luton. :)
