Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Farrelly name - Cavan name ?

    Looking through one branch of the family, it looks like one individual had the surname Farrelly in 3 of the 4 sets of grand parents. From what I can tell, they are all from the same part of Cavan, and from looking online it seems that Farrelly is a popular name around those parts. I'm just wondering if anyone has any light to shed on this - I know there are some 'traditional' names and places around the country, but Farrelly isn't one I've heard much about.

    Obviously I'm hoping that Farrelly is "a Cavan name" and these ancestors were not closely related and there were no lines crossing that shouldn't have crossed :eek:.

    Resounding yes from McLysaght - definitely a populous Cavan name.
