Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Anime / Manga forum charter - PLEASE READ

    Just adding in the general forum rules here:

    - No Flaming
    - No spamming
    - No advertising
    - No porn of any kind
    - No txt spk
    - No arguing with a moderator on thread - please PM the moderator if you have any issues with their actions

    Reporting Posts
    Any thread or post that contravenes the charter should be reported. When reporting a post, make sure you have good reason. Someone disagreeing with you is not a troll, not all arguments are abusive etc. Abusing this feature is frowned upon. If you report a post, it is always a good idea to say so in a thread. It is not required though, but it does reduce the number of repeated reported posts.
    As this is a new forum this charter will be edited and adapted as we see fit, we will edit the title to tell you if any changes have been made, please read it if it has been changed.

    running the cit anime soc here, we have a fairly big selection, the websites here:
    http://anime.citsocs.com and we have a forum with zero tolerance rules on hentai and downloads though, our college is scared of getting sued

    If you are linking to torrents then the post better be a review of the anime - simply posting links to download is not cool but on the other hand actually reviewing the anime is :)

    Excellent to see CIT around again - met your chair at the BICS awards last year :) Hentai is a very throny issue and will delt with on a case-by-case issue here as we recognise it as an aspect of anime but there are under-18 users..

    Considering boards stance on porn I would assume it's ok to discuss Hentai but linking to material would be a no no.

    Just checking. Does this mean we can't post links to sites that have anime on them that have been approved by the companies? Like the Funimation channel on youtube. It's licensed but it's legally there.
    Or is it only like we can't post a link to something like the English dub of Evangelion hosted on a torrent site?

    A site called joost is streaming anime. It lists a number of them on ANN but all I see are Ikki Tousen, Saiyuki, Izumo and Gun Frontier. Think there was another.

    Also as I mentioned, if you do a search for funimation on youtube you can find their official channel with a number of series.

    I believe the joost ones are subbed while the funimation ones are dubbed.

    Yes I agree. I love reading manga specially Bleach. I wonder where to download the advance episode of it. :D

    This includes posts with links to sites where you can download/stream licensed anime. Only OFFICIAL sites are allowed.

    No, it's not. It's illegal to download anime and boards.ie does not advocate such activities. You can talk about it but links to sites will be immediately removed and the user infracted.

    Am i allowed to use that link if i'd be making new thread?
    Its not illegal site or anything, it is google play app adn it is downloadable from there. Just thought that boards.ie otaku's would like to know about that app, but im not sure if it is maybe classed as 'not allowed' either. So better asking here before uploading link in new thread.
