Hopefully this is not too widespread we don't need another red ring of death debacle.

I got the red ring of death on my first 360.

Or better worded, it looks like a few new Xboxes have a problem.
That video is painful though, 'painful launch'? Maybe if UPS dropped it on your head.

It is very possible some of these consoles have received less than tender loving care when being shipped around.

UPS left my console and my expansion card in the porch without knocking or ringing the bell.

A certain percentage of units will have issues, this is unfortunate but inevitable.

With social media, everyone has an audience and it can seem like the problem is much bigger than it really is. MS and Sony are both going to be shipping millions of consoles between launch and xmas. PS4 and XB1 both did over 1m units in the first 24hrs.

There can be a slightly higher failure percentage with launch units. This is just the way it goes. Some people hold off for a few months for the kinks to be worked out but with the strong consumer protection we have here I think that's unnecessary.

I agree but frustrating for anybody that got a defective unit they will be waiting weeks for a replacement most likely.

I got a defective PS4 before from brick and mortar shop and it was annoying but easy to resolve. It would be some headache trying to contact MS, ship it back and wait for a replacement, if/when they have more stock.

There WILL be defective units, the same will be true for the PS5, but I also gotta say some of these clips are clearly tossers looking for 1 minute of fame or to gratuitously p1ss on Microsoft because...well it's Microsoft and they are "evil".

The "smokey" ones, that's quite clearly some cigarette smoke and vape being blown into the consoles - especially the one with the ultra-thick white plume coming out, unless ALL of the capacitors blew instantly on it. And the one with the porn dubbing...come on.

EDIT: Oh and the guy saying the console doesn't "even turn me on" must win some sort of award :D:D:D

Looks like the smoking ones were people blowing vape into it and turning it on.

Mine arrived on the porch with a mighty thud

    All seems ok through.

DPD left my PS5 controller, charger dock and Valhalla outside in the lashing rain today.

Few days, they always keep stock back for replacement. Mines already on the way. Should probably beat my ps5 here. My console would only boot once via the controller after a hard reset. The power button on the box worked, it was just the initial communication from the controller acting up otherwise worked perfectly. Looking around, I’m struck by how few hardware problems there are.

Is it me or delivery guys these feel like they are in US? Its popular thing there, but it never was here, but recently they started doing this leave and run ****.
We ordered a kettle from amazon and one day, coming back from shop we found it at our door. Now keep in mind its not even an estate or house with a front garden. Our front door goes right in to street, that always have people walking. How it was not nicked, was beyond us.

Why do people see this and then extrapolate from it that it's a widespread problem with all the consoles.

Millions of consoles shipped this week without any problems. Defective units are normal and make up a tiny percentage.

People got there RROD approximately 15 years ago on their 360 and people thing that MS have not learnt from this and their consoles will always have problems.

And it’s here and it’s working as it should. Such an odd problem. It’s as if the first machine had no standby mode. It would’ve beaten my PS5 here as well, had i not cancelled it (I’d have no time play the both and game pass is making this look like a winner for me, but I’m regretting that now).

DHL left a ridiculously expensive package of jewellery on my front step (that's not bragging, it was my mate's wedding rings). Didn't even ring the doorbell. My mate completed a 'note to courier' stating that it had to be signed for. Waste of time.

I managed to get a console at launch thanks to a fellow boardsie, the only issue is the thing has randomly shut down twice so far during a game. Hopefully it's a minor bug that will be sorted soon.
It was on it's side and was not on for more than 20 min. so I can't imagine it was overheating. Has anyone else got a similar issue?

There's been no verified reports of the console overheating.

On its side makes no difference once there's room for air to ventilate.

However there was talk here and online of Call of Duty causing console to crash.

Was that the game you were playing?

Cold War is a buggy mess causing all consoles, new and old to crash

Yes I was playing CoD. Didn't think the game would cause the xbox to shut down. Bas#%rd yoke.

I've had the odd game crash to desktop on me and once the console has switched off. However this also happened me on the Xbox One X so its not anything i would be worrying about. Software crashes and force shuts down machines sometimes.

Anyone who thinks it wont happen has had their brain damaged by playing Call of Duty id imagine.:pac:

My son had a crash when switching from a game back to home. Reboot and the Xbox's display settings were reset back to their lowest values, 480p etc. Another reboot just brought them back to 1080p so they had to be reset again. There was an issue with doing so in that the Series X was telling him that the TV couldn't manage HDR, despite the HDR being registered in the settings so I think another full power down allowed him sort it properly.

Yeah I think its just with covid though that they cannot sign. I am in a FB group for the area I live in and loads of posts of other ppl robbing ppl's parcels. I have had ppl in my apartment block knock and leave a parcel in our porch as it was just left in the hallway downstairs.
