I really liked the short trailer I watched but reading up on what wast actually revealed makes me more reluctant to jump straight in.

5v5 why?? 6v6 already feels slow on some maps especially without advanced movement.

Manual health regen. I run and gun. This could encourage camping even more.

Looks like they are pushing the team idea more with only 1 of each specialist per team etc. That’s great if I’m in a party but 99% of my games are solo. No such thing as team work. Just try and play Dom or hp solo.

I don't care about the team based specialists because you know my opinion on specialists already.

As for 5v5, like I said, it will depend on the maps to me but it is a step backwards like come on, it's such a stupid idea.

The game will still have sliding which I'm happy with. I like sliding.

I will wait for more to be revealed on the MP.

As for zombies, I'm hyped af, especially for the customisation you can do and of course MOB OF THE DEAD REMASTERED.

    Umm does Blackout have respawns?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,431 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

    Straight out of Overwatch.

Or rainbow 6. We will be stuck in lobbies forever when players can’t get their favourite specialist

Also full price with no campaign

What the hell were they doing for the last 3 years?

Some actual gameplay and opinions from Drift0r he says it’s more like Rainbow 6 then overwatch as it requires team play. He says it’s doesn’t feel like a call of duty game. This makes me sad

Prestige is key again saying it doesn’t feel like call of duty doesn’t like health regen system

I have a feeling Battlefield V's reveal next week is going to put another nail in the coffin of this - all they have to do is get the setting right (hopefully Vietnam), with a decent looking campaign and COD is ****ed this year.

They can spin the lack of SP whatever way they want - it's clear as day they are gearing BLOPS 4 up to be a cash cow. MP/Zombies/BR modes filled to the brim with loot boxes and MCT's. There is no money to be made from people playing a campaign, but they can be fleeced dry when all your modes are online only.

Just think of what they could have done with this with a bit of effort - a prequel story to Black Ops 1 with Woods, Mason etc would have been absolutely unreal. Instead we get this crap trying to imitate everything that's popular.

I dunno, I'm cautiously optimistic, pubg on xb1 is great , but the lack of polish is soul crushing, If they can make their battle royale mode good, that might be enough for me.

It still remains to be seen if this can justify being a full price release. The last few COD's all seem more and more like they should be a free to play game with all the lootbox and skin nonsense. The fact that theres now no campaign is probably going to lose a good segment of the audience.

you'd think Zombies is nearly popular enough to spin out into its own franchise at this stage - although personally I think its pure scutter.

Trust me, a lot of us zombie fans would love that especially with all the zombie maps on one game instead of loading up multiple different games to play different maps.

Not shocked at the lack of SP. Requires huge investment and effort and at this point I'd imagine the overwhelmingly majority either don't make it past the first level or even attempt the campaign in recent titles.

I like COD campaigns, Infinite Warfare was great, WW2 was a bit dull but entertaining enough all the same. I've always seen them as SP games as much as MP.

However, that said, Black Ops 3 was an absolute disaster of a campaign.

The backlash it's getting for the lack of SP would tell a different story, that perhaps they have completely misread their player base. Did they take in to account that a lot of people who play it solely for SP may not be connected to the internet? Were they basing their figures off the trophy percentages platform wide for the games?

The fatal flaw in Black Ops was the story from 2 onwards - imagine the series we could have had with the cast of BLOPS spread over the 3 games and grounded in Cold War/80's/90's timeframes? Instead, they got a bit too clever with the story for 2, basically shooting the series in to a future timeline it could never come back from and suffocated it to death. This series ended at 2 for me, 3 was just an embarrasment.

It'll naturally get some backlash given it's one of the most popular games in the world but I don't think they need to be overly concerned. Games like Overwatch and Rainbow Six don't have SP either and it's not been any barrier to enormous success.

I would still prefer a campaign obviously but even anecdotally, all my friends own WW2 but I'm the only one to have played the campaign. Was the same for Black Ops 3. Even looking at the achievements for Infinite Warfare at the time I played that, the very low percentage of people who had achievements for completing campaign missions was very surprising. I think for some of the later missions it was like 5% or something.

They probably figured that the huge time, effort and money required to create an AAA campaign was not giving them returns...and they are probably right ultimately. Most people who'll grumble about a lack of SP will still buy the game. The actual 'lost revenue' is likely small/inconsequential in the larger picture.

While I appreciate there are people whose internet is terrible and not great for online gaming, there are very few people in the modern age with current generation machines whose consoles are literally not ever connected to the internet so I would say the trophy/achievement figures are a reasonably indicator.

I'm open to correction but I believe SP in the last few CoDs has required some form of internet connection (but not a PSPlus account).

Also the amount of the data on gameplay they collect now is staggering so they would definitely have the numbers to back up this change.

Couldn’t really give a monkies about Zombies tbh.
As for the multiplayer the reveal trailer now has over 128K dislikes, so yeah Treyarch you screwed up no wonder Vohn was sweating like a pig at the reveal :D

I think I know that from ages ago. I couldn't really give a monkies about Campaign. Oh wait :).

How I got into COD was zombies. Simply went to my friend's house in 2011 after school. He wanted me to play Kino der Toten on Black Ops 1 with him. I never touched any COD or FPS game before. I was into Mario and Sonic games. I instantly grew in love even if I was a huge noob at it back then.... I thought I was a god getting to the elevator on Five....... :o

Then another time, I played BO1 with him in MP and it was the map Stadium that I first played. I loved it too.

MW2 was my first campaign I touched and now, that's a campaign I actually enjoy playing.

Jesus, that graph that was posted. Black Ops 3 - 4% campaign rate. Not surprised, given how abysmal it was, but that's still gotta hurt considering the resources that would've been put into it. Still can't understand what they were doing putting such an off-the-wall abstract, surrealist, convoluted narrative into a Call of Duty game.

It's the only COD campaign I've never finished going right back to the original game. I've pretty much enjoyed them all otherwise to varying degrees. Never really liked Zombies mode myself though at all.

Gamestop doing the €19.99 deal on this like with GoW. If I can get it for €40 i'll pick it up, but no way in hell i'm paying full price for this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,431 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Do Activison take notice of the amount of dislikes on the reveal trailer it’s currently at 146000, same time last year WWII dislikes was under 20000 dislikes.
I wonder will they give a pre order bonus of World at War remastered based on poo pre-orders now I would pay €70 for that

full price might work out okay if they have scrapped the season pass like the rumour suggests and release the new maps for no extra, it could be a 3 year game of new content like black ops 3 has turned into

Didn't hear anything about that, but if there is 100% no season pass and the only purchasable content is cosmetic (ie: no maps), then I will pay full price. But if they expect full price for the base game and another €50 for a season pass, they're being extremely cheeky. While it does look like I'll enjoy this way more than WWII (which I traded after a month, like Ghosts), i'm at the stage where I refuse to continue to line the pockets of shareholders while we, the customers, get screwed over yet again.

I wish they would release a few different version, MP only, Zombies only, both together. I've 0 interest in Zombies, and I genuinely don't know why people love it, it's the same crap over and over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,506 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

it's the same crap over and over.

Same thing with MP. Same thing with campaign. You shoot and kill. You move around. Boom, that's the whole experience. I don't know why people love battle royale. Let's get back on track to what this thread is meant for.... news and rumours, not bashes and lashes unless you want a Black Ops 4 megabitch thread just like WW2.

By the way, it seems the game was going to be set in 2069.

How many maps are we going to get on launch?

Nope sorry this thread is open to discussion on the game the trailer/reveal dropped two days ago and we as players can discuss our hopes and fears on this thread up until perhaps the beta drops no need for another thread as boards Cod players are thin on the ground as it is.

I was referring to the whole zombies and MP debacle, you can talk about all the **** things about BO4 all you want, wasn't talking about that. Just because you and others here dislike zombies doesn't mean I should, you have made your points on such ages ago. I don't have a problem with you disliking zombies, what I do have a problem with is comments against me here on liking it.

Now, as I was saying, how many maps will we get on launch this time coming after WW2?
