Higher minimum wage means harder to get a job?

    Is this true and if so what is the cause? I have friends that live on both sides of the Atlantic and unquestionably, the friends who live here find it harder to get a job than my American friends, in any field whether it's a ****ty retail job or a high paying job.

    I've heard it's because when a country has a high minimum wage, employees are very careful on taking on people because they don't want to pay money to train inexperienced people and then pay them a high wage so they almost always go for experienced people.

    In America, the wages are **** but unless you have a criminal record, you'll be able to find work. Some of my friends without work visas applied and were given a job despite the employer knowing they weren't American.

    But is this true or just a case of correlation does not equal causation?
