Sink tap

Hi. My sink tap is leaking and my landlord said that it is a washer problem. But he hasn't had it fixed yet so I used a pliers to tighten it completely and it did that but not before it slipped off the tap a few times thus scratching the tap. So I'm wondering if it's possible to paint over the scratches basically painting…
