    Hi all. I just got lasik about 3 weeks ago now with Optilase in Cork with Wayne Crewe-Brown and I'm very happy with the results. I can now see according to my consultant "2 lines above 20/20" whereas before I was -6 in my left eye and -5.75 in my right eye.I'm 18 so I was warned about my age at the original consultation but she did say that if I was 23/24 she wouldn't even ask about my age as my eyesight would have def settled by then.Luckily for me my sight was settled and so I could get lasik. I would def recommend optilase just because they didn't try to sell it to me,they were very factual and gave detailed infoabout the procedure and aftercare so nothing came as a shock.Marie the consultant in Limerick was very friendly and professional. Everytime I met Marie, she was always chatty and quick to put you at ease about the surgery
    Without being cheesy, for a person used to being stuck in glasses it really is a amazing to go to the cinema, see friends on nights out etc and not have to wear glasses
    The cost of my procedure was exactly 2840 euros. With a referral for optilase you get 100 euros off which always helps and if you use my referral I get 100 euros which helps me - a struggling student haha.     I had the 1980s popular and disastrous Radial keratotomy. It seemed fantastic at first and sent lead-shaped as time went on. I would not recommend touching the cornea for vision correction unless it is affected by disease and needs very specialised treatment like transplant to restore vision. The cornea is very prone to scarring with any interventions and that happened me as time went on. And you have little redress as you will have signed waivers to the effect that you acknowledge this risk if you read the fine print. Use corrective lenses for eyes at all costs, that’s my very strong advice no matter how satisfied a person appears to be over initial results.
