Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Does windscreen insurance cover leaks?

    Hi - I've noticed a leak at the top of the A pillar driver's side, pretty sure the windscreen seal has failed somewhere. Before I go digging, does windscreen insurance cover leaky seals? I'd image it would need to come out to fix it properly.

    I'm fully comp with FBD thru an post.

    No, it typically doesn't. Have a closer look at the windscreen however, there might be some cracks already that are dangerous.

    Maybe go to a windscreen specialist and ask them to check it. If it’s leaking get them to replace it and bill your insurance. Windscreen cover is for a replacement windscreen when it’s been damaged, leaking indicates damage so your covered.

    It covers breakage (which includes chips). This is wear and tear or a defect, neither are covered under any insurance policy. You can follow advice to commit insurance fraud if you like. It easy to do as insurers will take you on trust.

    'Damage' does not include deterioration which happens over time. That's why you can't claim for new brake pads on your fully comp. insurance.
