I was watching this tonight and it’s a great watch. One question came to my mind, how do these studs, owners, riders make money? In comparison to racing where betting, big prize money make the stables money, the show jumpers who display excellent horsemanship have a lot smaller prize money. A potential black type foal could make much more than a Grand Prix jumper

There is a certain amount of rich people/ owners constantly there. That’s what keeps the show on the road. It, (owners) evolves over the years. Prize money is big internationally also. We don’t see it in Ireland, apart from the Dublin Horse Show.

It certainly has an elitist element that racing has cast off. It’d be great to see more of it on tv.

Eurosport used to. But FEI TV seem to have inherited Nations Cups, and most other big shows. They charge an annual fee.
