Talk to the lads in City Spares, I found them the best price on a brand new MT07 and was €400 cheaper than anybody else and offered the best aftersales service of anybody

    Annnd yet another post.

Again McCallens have come back to say the price will be + 'on the road fees' of £55 and road tax of £93 (????) anyone know why I would be paying years road tax on the north when the bike will be brought to the south on day of purchase?

No idea, but £55 is the DVLA fee for a first registration and £93 is the VEL for the year. If you're not putting it "on the road" in the North, then they shouldn't come into it.

Why aren't the dealers offering this as an option ? It would have been a lot less spendy not having to temporarily pay the VAT twice.

Because its too much hassle for them. Selling the odd bike to RoI customers is not a recurring business for them.

Also, 2 brands I do know of preclude them selling for export as part of their franchise contract- its seen as impinging on other franchisees territories. Hence they must register them in the UK first.

Which means it incurs UK VAT.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Tbh, at end 2020 it'll ll be all moot anyway, as UK imports will also have tariffs applied.....
