Marathons in Ulster

    Hi All,

    I am hoping someone can help or give some advice on the different options for running a marathon are in Ulster.

    I am currently in the middle of running 4 marathons in Ireland (1 in each province) in 2019 for charity.
    I have Connemara (Connaught) and Cork (Munster) done and have Dublin (Leinster) booked but have not yet booked one in Ulster.

    I ideally wanted to do the Belfast one but this was between the 2 mentioned above so it would have meant 3 marathons in 7 weeks which would have been too risky injury wise.

    There is Armagh end of August and one in Monaghan during September but I am unsure as to how big etc these are. Would love to hear from people who have done them or if anyone else knows of any other marathon in Ulster.

    Ideally I want to run it in 2019 but there is a part of me wondering should I postpone and do Belfast in 2020.

    Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated

    I did the Monaghan one in 2017. It's a lovely race but it was on a looped course, 1 loop through town and 4 loops through the nearby forest park, which I don't mind at all but is not to everyone's taste. The scenery was stunning, though I hope you don't mind a few hills if you're planning on doing it.

    I think there were not quite 100 runners doing the full marathon

    Have a look at this one, i did it last year. beautiful course, well supported but limited to 250 runners. Flat course the whole way.

    If you want to mix it up, then there is the Causeway Coast Marathon in September, bit of trail, beach and mixed terrain running.

    Doesn't look like the Armagh Marathon is going ahead nothing about it yet and nowhere to register......
