Most people don't care. The usual thing, no-one cares if it doesn't harm them.

Yeah they do, of the broadband type.

OP, pointless argument. It's not going to go anywhere and will eventually lead to a mod closing it because non regular posters make suggestive comments.

Problem with gangers killing gangers, is when they miss and kill some innocent randomer by mistake.

I've got no problem with thesemurdering scum being gunned down in the street, but if we just let them kill each other, they'll only end up killing innocents aswell... and nobody will stop that either.

We need to give the Gardaí the power to attack and convict these thugs. We need to ensure their conviction. Civil liberties be damned, we need to get these people in prison before they drag the cities down.

Another OP who hasn't a clue. At least 5 innocent people in the last couple years have been shot dead by these scum.

Each time you ignore them, they get stronger. It seems to me you want this country to be Colombian style where drug lords get so powerful to threaten the state as after all, they are just killing themselves.

I dont care when they kill each other, its when they kill innocent hardworking people when its a problem.

While not many are likely to cry over a gangster getting shot, there are other benefits to launching a murder investigation...

Thug A guns down Thug B. Gardaí investigate, find evidence, Thug A goes down for murder, or gives up info on his gang leading to further arrests..

Gang starts killing all it's rivals - no murder investigations, they stop caring about the possibility of arrest....Gang gets bigger and more powerful..other gangs get more guns to defend themselves, more killings, innocents caught in crossfire....you see where this is going?

If only it were that simple OP. It never is. Welcome back to the real world where good things happen to bad people.

I agree, eg, Shane Geoghan, Roy Collins, I could go on... they need to be tackled, not ignored...

Going to take the aim you're talking about the Drimnagh - Crumlin gang war, in which someone was murder in Ballyfermot today. Well if that's the case OP, if you live right in the middle of part of this war you'd care about the well being and safety of your innocent neighbours, etc...

Back up to your Dalkey estate were everyone is an angel and you're not personally surrounded by murders, drug-dealers, etc...

Murder rate is down 35% this year, according to the CSO anyway, you know, the people who keep track of things and deal with hard facts as opposed to tabloid scare stories designed to sell papers that less and less people are buying and that wield a disproportionate influence on the sort of people who go to soccer matches.

    simplistic view imo.

O.K. let them kill each other.

    And what then?

    They'll stop?

I'm sure they'll crap themselves when someone tries to stand up to them with a navy uniform and and extented baton?

They're hardly going to respect the law after they're used to killing people who are a problem to them.

Anyone who guns people down in cold blood, innocent or not are sociopaths.

Letting them kill off their rivals, these people don't give a crap about human life one way or another.

Just making them more powerful in their tiny minds.

    Zero tolerance is the way.

Tough legislation is what is called on to tackle these animals and that means giving the Gardai extra powers.
The problem with this is that when the Gardai are given more powers there is an elemant of the Force that will use them in the wrong manner.
It was not long ago that the Gardai were facing major questions over their tactics in Donegal. If we had a Gardai that the public trusted 100% then there would be no problem in suiting them up for the crimes of Gangland Ireland. Problem is there is nothing close to that percentage that trusts our current force.... Unfortunetly
