Silly question as the answer may well be in the question. To get a herd number one must have an isolation shed. Does this have to be away from other sheds? Green field at the moment so planning at this stage. For example could an isolation shed be part of a block of sheds that are part of one larger structure? Cows may be passing through the block once or twice daily.

Given its purpose it would be better separate. Separate airspace, separate dung handling. Separate handling facility. Give some thought to ease of cleaning/disinfection.
