Went up to Newcastle last year on a scorched, great day out. Any fast jets expected this year in Ireland?

Newcastle was a great show last year.

Swedish Historic have said they will be in Ireland, so I assume Bray with the Viggen or Drakke as Newcastle was not mentioned.

Aside from that quite likely the Typhoon will be up in Newcastle & Portrush.

Not heard anything else at the minute.

Terrible news tonight. Causeway coast and Glenns council are close to £70m in debt and have pulled all funding for Airwaves Portrush. No official announcement has been made about the show, however with no funding one can assume no show.

Anyone heard any rumblings about Bray this year? Just over 3 months away whilst restrictions hopefully ease by then I can't see the gatherings for the crowds out there being allowed so would surely see it cancelled?

Unfortunately I can't see any large scale event such as this go ahead this year . It would pose too much a risk after all the good efforts of trying to contain the virus already .

I doubt it will go ahead this year. Hopefully next years will do.

Bray has been postponed as per an update on their website. Newcastle 2020 has been cancelled.

    Bray statement
The Bray Air Display has been postponed due to COVID-19 updated mass gathering guidelines set out by the government on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020. The event was originally due to take place on July 25th and 26th.

We will liaise with Government officials and review the situation between now and the end of the month, assessing if we can work to reschedule the event.

A final decision will be taken in due course. The health and well-being of our spectators, service providers, volunteers and our team is of paramount importance.

    Newcastle statement
Following careful consideration of the government’s ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is with great regret that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has had to take the decision to cancel this year’s Festival of Flight, due to take place on Saturday 20 June 2020.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey said, “Each year the Festival of Flight attracts over 80,000 visitors into Newcastle and the wider Mournes region. The Council acknowledges the economic impact that this event brings to Newcastle and the wider-region and the huge-amount of planning and preparation that is undertaken by our partners including the blue-light services.”

Councillor Charlie Casey continued, “The Council’s priority at this time is to support the ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic that is being delivered each day across government and society. It is with great regret that this decision has had to be made, but it has been made in the best interests of our local residents, visitors, festival participants and event partners including the PSNI, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, RLNI, RAF, air-display teams, the local media, the event sponsors and the many local tourism and hospitality businesses in Newcastle that support the event each year.

“The Council will continue to review plans for this year’s Tourism Event’s Programme on an ongoing basis and in-line with guidance from the Public Health Agency.”

The postponement of Bray is probably beneficial. After last year’s, very nondescript show and with little to nothing happening in the way of pre publicity prior to the middle of March, this year. I feel that another very pedestrian lineup in 2020 would have signalled the death knell of the show.
Who knows the postponement my reenergise the organising committee into getting so top line aircraft to display in 2021, assuming that the Show is simply not allowed to wither on the vine and join the fond memories of previous Irish Air Shows.
