The company may be fine but the stock is ridiculous. Look at the P/Sales ratio. It's insane!

That kind of stuff doesn't matter, when it's another DotCom type bubble ;)

I'm sure that Amazon, Ebay, Netflix, all looked just as crazy, from a valuation perspective, somewhere along the way... But for every one of them, there are probably fifty companies that also went bust.

This is all about taking a view on the EV sector, and then predicting the likely winners, from within this sector. I personally think NIO has a better chance than most of the others, so I'm prepared to risk some of my money by investing in it.

The bottom line is simple with all investing, don't invest more than you can afford to lose!

    Thanks,

    G.

We might not see Nio in the 50s again lol.

The question is do you keep buying now? Definitely holding what I have.

I'm buying more, very impressive company who have cracked battery swapping AND appear to be making advances in utilising solid state battery tech.

Definitely want more also. My only concern is if Tesla pop's it will damage Nio. But I see them as the best head to head competitor in the Chinese market if not the world. They have more work to get the name out there though but I see it happening.

This is easy for me to say considering I'm already heavily in NIO, but personally I never ever buy on a +10% day, which this is right now. If it pulls back sub60 then yep, otherwise wait a week or so till all the hype drops.

I'm very new to all this but would I be right in saying that now that NIO day is over, news about NIO will dry up and the lack of news or hype might cause a dip?

I'll be holding for now and will see where the price goes over the next month.

Nobody knows, that's the thing. With Tesla people have said it'll never go over X but it has and continues to rise like it's on Viagra.

Simple fact, when any stock jumps like 10% in a day there is a high enough chance plenty of people will take profit. All these upgrades with NIO today are great and give me more confident that there is more to go definitely, but that still doesn't change the fact that say at 65$+ your buying NIO when its quite extended. As far as I'm concerned there hasn't been any fundamental change in NIO since like last week, the new ET7 and the 150kw battery were what we expected, what has come is good hype and these upgrades. Basically what I'm saying is you should be doing your due diligence on NIO across time, and in that case anytime across the last few weeks while it was coming back up from its Dec low of 40 you would of been buying along then, your late to the party just parachuting in this afternoon 2bh.

Next catalyst is earnings unless we get more upgrades later on. I think earnings are late feb -mid march

Being blunt again with you Dutch haha, no you've probably missed the boat, where were you the last few weeks when it was in the low 40s, well beat down from its peak of 57, but nicely holding support?, That was the time to be dollar averaging into it, waiting for it to build. Personally I'd say you probably need to pick afew companies that you really really like, do plenty of homework on them, and be ready to buy any dips that they clearly seem too beat down, rather than trying to jump in on the likes of NIO on a +10% day, that's what I'd call fomo. Having said that hopefully NIO will still push on across the next week leading up to NIO day on Jan 9th, but there is a strong possibility that NIO day is already priced in, and it will sell off immediately after (or maybe more likely immediately before lol) NIO day.

I'm still kicking myself.. Should have bit the bullet. My bestfriend got in on them a few months back and he hasn't shut up. We have a bit of an amateur competition going on!

Enjoy the gains everyone, gonna be watching this closely..

Agreed - the only thing we may get, prior to 2020 financials, is January sales, perhaps.

On the back of recent fund raising, I'm also expecting to hear more on what they are spending money on....

    Thanks,

    G.

Depends on who you are speaking with, maybe consider other peoples circumstances, besides you own ;)

Depends on the individual's finances to be fair. But they will go down a little and bounce back up. Same as they did the last time. Stocks go in both directions it's the name of the game, especially with growth stocks.

One of the 18yr olds who I'm coaching in the running club dumped half his life savings into 43 NIO shares back in August for 16$ each as a long term investment, he's off to a very nice start there lol.

The amount of people I know whos investment career consisted of buying eircom shares, and they haven't been back since because the whole experience was so bad lol.

    Got in NIO @16.30 out @ $62.23
Dumped it all in CCIV @ 16.25. Fingers crossed

Best of luck with that, I assume your betting on the possible deal with Lucid.

How come you didn't keep any NIO, even a small holding, if you don't mind me asking?

    Thanks,

    G.

Really just decided I was happy with the returns I made and put most of it into CCIV and the rest into CYIO.
Thought I could make better short term gains in theses. I got into CYIO @ 0.06 so I’m happy so far.

This stock is perfect picture of a bubble.

Care to explain, and support that one please?

Is always good to have the positives, and the negatives / challenges, in the discussion.

    Thanks,

There a few guys I follow on Twitter and when they all start talking I look into it. Follow StockWits forum then look at the competition and see what they are at price wise. I am in no means a professional at this and only trade with a small account. Most of my trades are in the $1000 a trade mark. Happy enough as I have doubled my money in six months. If CCIV and CYIO come through like I expect this is significantly going to grow my account. Also looking into BUSXF and BEGI at the moment and will probably pull the trigger on Tuesday.
Like I said don’t take my word for it though as I do not do this full time, just for fun.
