more reasons to love Seinfeld

One thing i really admire about Seinfeld beyond the obvious brilliant writing, acting, story lines etc is the fact that for an American programme, it recognises that there is a world outside the states and mentions it time and time again.

Various countries are mentioned some in a good way, some in a bad way but always objectivey,
In Most American Shows, Europe = France, Japan = Godzilla, South America = Drug Lords/laziness and so on, if places outside american are mentioned at all.

But in Seinfeld they didn't pander to stereotypes, their are plenty of foreignors in the show but they are treated as real people with lives and a personality first, and as an accent secondly. Babu bot, Milosh (sp?) the tennis guy, The finnish writer, The russian writer, and various others, sure they're comic creations but they are more than just a one dimensional foreign freak to point at.

Another thing, People were treated and judged on their personalities/actions and not their jobs, so lots of people with lowly jobs, doormen, cleaners, street vendors, even tramps could be shown as intelligent witty reasoned people.

There was no emphasis on what someone did for a living unlike... well unlike the entire rest of the United States

A bit hard on the old USA Joe, but I agree about Seinfeld.
It is the funniest TV show ever. :)
