Lovely stuff! Is Progear a Naomi game? Been looking for that game for forever and can't find it anywhere.

Congratulations on not one but two cabs!

(Sorry to stray off topic) What's the going rate for one? I can't even find that game, even at specialist places.

If you want progear I can ask (this is gonna sound douchy) my contact in Japan.
They put me onto that guy who sold me the large collection of CPS-2 stuff a few weeks back, which included Progear.

Figured it would be crazy money. SteveSI did your 984,007 CPS2 boards arrive from Nippon yet? (Again sorry to stray OT)

No really though..Mars matrix,Gigawing and Progear.

I've seen a couple of Mars Matrix CPS2 go on eBay recently for around £80-£100 plus shipping. One was a black version, or was it blue? I forget.

Must have been black, it most definitely wasn't grey. Think the seller was in Mexico. Do a completed items search on eBay as it was a recent auction. I nearly went for it too but wasn't sure what the deal was with different colour CPS2 boards.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,846 ✭✭✭Steve X2

    I got Progear for a steal, 12000 yen :D

The guy doesn't sell online at all.
I had to fly out to pick and buy the stuff, but it was so worth it.

He used to be a manager for some arcades, or so the story goes.
I'm not really sure what's true and what's Bull***. But either way the boards are legit and I was able to test all 20 or so of them before buying.

I'll ask my contact over there to call into the guy today if possible(its early morning there now) and see what the story is.

My CPS-2 boards should be here early next week by the way Pyongyang.

I'll stack them all nice and high and get the girlfriend in a bikini standing beside them, just like in those high end car mags :D

    Master of the Universe

I've seen Progear boards sell for about £100. Wouldn't be paying too much more than that myself.

Beautiful Naomi stuff Kerbdog! Going from no cabs to two at once is quite an achievement!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,035 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

So rather than muck up Kerbdog's lovely Naomi thread here's a place to chat about all things arcade. :D

To start it off - managed to hook up the 360 to the cab last night via Sync Strike and Extron RGB 580xi and the shmups look delicious! Audio/Video switcher works like a charm too. However, I think I'll need to house alot of those gubbins outside the cab, maybe get a small box of some sort and feed the cables into the cab. A cab owners work is never done! :pac:

@Pyongyang: If you like Progear you should defo check out Akai Katana, same type of horizontal shmup, excellent so it is.

Just convert a cheap cps2 to a progear.

I'd LOVE to get Akai Katana. Do you have the LE? I don't have an NTSC-J XBOX360 though.

As for Progear, I've made a couple of enquiries today... ;)

What sticks do you guys (and the possible odd lady) like to use in your console setups or cabs?

I'm contemplating getting the Seimitsu LS-56-01 stick but I hear it's a toss up between that and the LS-32 series for shooting games.

    What do you like?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 50,695 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Seimetsu for me. Prefer it for shooters and beat'em ups.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,206 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

    Sanwa JLF for life.
Best stick for fighters and it ain't bad for shooters.
I here Seimitsu is best if you play shooters but I've yet to try one on a SHUMP.
    Too tight for fighters though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,846 ✭✭✭Steve X2

I've Sanwa sticks and buttons in my candy and very happy with them.

    .

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,206 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Same here.Although there is always a clear cut divide between sticks, buttons wise,Sanwa are the only choice
Delicate and responsive to the touch. There's too much resistance on Seimitsus.
My fingers hurt after extended play.
    They feel like Happ buttons

Saying that I have Happ Competition buttons(the convex ones) on my woody.
After taking the springs out they feel quality

    Sanwa JLW with octagonal restrictors

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Mixed bag there. What's the story with JLF, I thought that was loved by fighting game fans only? Is the throw on that really long?

Seimitsu LS-32-01 sticks and Sanwa buttons on my cab. Rarely play fighters tbh.
