Any news of Dun Laoghaire v Dublin tonight?

St Benildus 4.5 Trinity 3.5; unfortunately they had their full top eight out for the first time whereas we were missing Ioana.
Good win for Stephen Moran against Stephen Brady was our highlight.

    DL led Dublin 3.5 to 1.5 at 10 30
And final score was 4.5 for DL a welcome first win of the season

    Rathmines 2.5-5.5 Blanchardstown

    Advanced games in the below:
Bray 1.5-1.5 Gonzaga A - the rest on Saturday as scheduled.

    Gonzaga A 6-2 Bray
    Kilkenny 4.5-3.5 Gonzaga B

    Gonzaga A 6-2 Bray
    Kilkenny 4.5-3.5 Gonzaga B

Very confusing with two teams one round ahead. So I think the standings are:

    Gonzaga A 34 (after 6 completed matches)

Gonzaga B 32.5 (7, except one game still to be played with Elm Mount from round 6)

    Trinity 29.5 (6 matches)

    Kilkenny 29 (7 matches)

    rd 7 to come:
    Elm Mount-Trinity on 28 Jan
    Dublin v Gonzaga A on 2 feb

Foot of the table is clearer, all from 6 matches: Bray 24, Balbriggan 20, Rathmines 16.5 and Dun Laoghaire 15.5.

Had a full team for the first match too. Trinity a bit unlucky that our form has finally started to turn, though we probably should have had more out of the game. I think at least 6-2 was looking likely at one stage.

Starting to look fairly ominous at the bottom for Rathmines and Dún Laoghaire, though they still have to meet, and a big win for either would be a big boost.

Gonzaga 1-2 at the top is an amazing achievement, although Trinity can split that with their game in hand.

I think that the situation is well past the "ominous" stage and a lot closer to doomed. We haven't had anything near a full team out even once this season which is a shame because we have more than enough strength in the club to be comfortably mid table.
I was in hospital for a week so missed our latest match but had I been well enough to play I would have found a way to sneak out of the hospital and turn up.
Anyway, when we do get relegated we should be able to bounce straight back up.

Dublin 0.5-7.5 Gonzaga A - big result at the top and bottom.

Henry Li 2295+ Live now so within a win of the FM title.

The A team 7.5 points clear with 4 to play and 3 of those from the bottom 4. Dublin slip into the bottom 4.

Any word on Blanch v Balbriggan?

Default by Blanch on board 2. Haven’t heard anything else

Did Dun laoghaire default day on board 6 v Benildus this round? Or was the game played? It originally showed as a default?

Phone going off is a loss, not a default - FIDE rules!

Is a phone loss considered the same for rating purposes?

Yes - but presumably it was entered as such originally. It's been updated now.

Limitless - yes, it counts for rating

A default would be worse: -1 in the league table.

So it looks as if there could be a real dogfight in the relegation stakes but the main interest at the top is Trinity v Gonzaga B for second and third honours, with St. Benildus come up fast on the rails.

I thought that Blanchardstown were supposed to have defaulted on board 2? If so it couldn't be 4=4

Bad intel - their b2 didn’t show but they’d a spare player knocking around

I know that a lot of chess players aren't married or in relationships, but Valentine's night is a really stupid time for a league fixture (Dublin v Rathmines). Some of us do have lives away from chess.

? Rathmines is the home team.
