DIY recess screen install

I had been looking at getting a projector and screen for a while and grabbed a bargain on a 92" recessed sapphire screen for 400e.

    http://www.sapphireav.com/Sapphire-Dedicated-Electric-Recessed-Screen-Viewing-Area-2032mm-x-1146mm-169-Approx-Case-Dimensions-Not-Including-Surround-L-2192-x-H-122-x-D-135mm_p_442.html

Living in a bungalow and I knew the joists ran the right direction I went for it.

    Step 1.
    Protect your TV!

    Step 2.
Measure 3/4 times and mark up your cut.
Double check your clearence!you dont want your screen bashing off the TV.

    Step 3
Start cutting,i started with a pad saw and then switched to hand saw.
(I had pealed back the insulation above first)
    No going back now!

    Step 4,
    the actual install.
The screen hangs on a single threaded rod at each end.
I welded up two very simple hangers that lay across the joists and the screen hangs on those using the supplied fixings. I have no pic of them.
offer up the screen to the the hanging rods and tighten into place.

    The result .

Very very happy with this set up.
If you are attempting this you need access to the top of the screen to fit it.
You need min 120mm of clearance above .
If your joists are running the "wrong " way forget about it! Or build a small box to hide it.

I have a motorized projector lift to fit next :D

Neat Job! - leveling out too at same viewing height as TV.
How does the sound from the Radius centre speaker differ with screen down?

    -Coley.

That was pure luck to be honest.
The supplied screen measurements showed the tv 20mm lower than the screens max drop.
I had commented to moving the tv up and while I was at it the center channel down.
I was surprised how little the screen has affected the sound.
I'll revisit it once I have the rest of the install complete.
Only have a loan of a projector atm but loving it,never had one before !

Nice one. Was thinking of putting one in next year. Considered any airtightness as opening some gaps into attic space ? Tapes or gunk to seal up.

I just caulked it in and packed insulation around it.
Would be better without a stippled ceiling but you gotta work with what you got.
I think I will go back a tape it at some stage.
Ive to build an insulated box to house the recessed projector mount too.
