    Hey Guys?

Do you know if VRT is included in the purchase cost of the vehicle when calculating the VAT using margin scheme by non-authorised dealer?

Revenue Quote : " In the case of a second-hand vehicle by any person other than authorised dealer, VAT liability arisises on the full VRT-inclusive amount received, and no adjustment is allowed. "

    thank you

Revenue says that If you are an authorised dealer you can deduct it from your margin ( take it off from sales price when calculating the margin)

At the same time revenue points out that difference between authorised dealer and unauthorized dealer is only in the way how vrt is handled , but not VAT.

If authorised dealer is allowed to deduct VRT from the margin it will be different treatment to VAT payable than for unauthorized dealer no ?

By concession revenue allow an authorised dealer to treat the vrt payment as a payment on behalf of the customer when the car is being registered similar to the sale of a new vehicle

In the event the car is pre registered before being sold the vrt is not allowed in calc the margin

There is no provision for an unauthorised dealer to have an unregistered vehicle in the country as they would be in breach of the vrt regs
