Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Does anyone know of any work done on magistrates, particularly landed magistrates before the famine? There doesn't seem to be much out there, but the control and manipulation this class held over society and law is a fascinating topic. Anyone shed any light on them?

    That seems pejorative... why that choice of words? Do you believe that all of them controlled and manipulated society and the law?

    That's what I want to find out. From the bits I have read, it would seem the majority at least were.
