    My 10 nominations were...

Head Over Heels - Tears For Fears; https://youtu.be/CsHiG-43Fzg
The Sun Always Shines on TV - a-ha; https://youtu.be/a3ir9HC9vYg
Dumb Things - Paul Kelly; https://youtu.be/ZR-eTR3Dcps
Edge Of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks; https://youtu.be/Dn8-4tjPxD8
And We Danced - The Hooters; https://youtu.be/zB1Q-PfUvN0
    867-5309/Jenny - Tommy Tutone; https://youtu.be/mDC_2zTrpbg
    I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls; https://youtu.be/iIpfWORQWhU
    Papa Don't Preach - Madonna; https://youtu.be/G333Is7VPOg
    Temptation - Heaven 17; https://youtu.be/xWwtMrDX2o8
Shake Your Love - Debbie Gibson*; https://youtu.be/jv1YwsbIxDw

*Nominating Shake Your Love was definitely more for the craic than anything else, as it's one of my guilty pleasure songs rather than something I thought could actually do well

Thanks Zeph. I love Echo alright. It's hard to know what songs to pick from a given artist. I nominated Dire Straits but after talk last night I'm thinking that Brother In Arms would have been a better choice.

Yeah, it's a tricky one. I deliberately limited myself to one track per act, otherwise I probably would have had half a dozen or more Talking Heads songs.

    867-5309/Jenny - Tommy Tutone;

This song got a lot of stick. I never heard it before and like it; discovery of the thread for me, cheers.

And thanks Kolido, even though I wasn't enamoured with the last eight, Joy Division's song is undoubtedly a classic.

Always brings a smile to my face whenever I hear it and great fun to sing along to. Glad to hear someone else liked it anyway! :D

With the exception of Pump Up the Volume that's a playlist I'd be very happy to listen to repeatedly.

Great song. Deserved better. Would have voted for it against almost any other song than the one it was up against.

An example of my hair-tearing. This one beat out the far, far, far (IMO) superior You Can Call Me Al which I nominated.

    Woohoo, I won!! What's my prize? :D

I'll split that prize with you, I was one of the other two ;)
Edit: just spotted bubblypop was the other

It was my self indulgent nomination, I assumed my other four would do better as I went obvious...

Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer
    Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
    U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

The Jesus and Mary Chain was my self-indulgent nomination, and it did a lot better than I expected. If I had to pick one of mine to win it definitely would have been Blue Monday, but it went out very early. Shows what I know.

Joy Division were also in the one hit wonder competition, they were knocked out in the QF by Eagle Eye Cherry

And Save Tonight was released in 97. Is there any point running the whole 90s comp now? :p

Was going to nominate Fast Car by Tracy Chapman as a top ten 90's song only to see that it was released in 1988 and wasn't nominated at all in this!

Was on my shortlist but didn't make the final cut. It would have been knocked out in the qualifiers by A-Ha anyway so don't worry about what might have been.

If it was re-released as a single in the 90's (which I *think* it was) then it should still qualify - double check with Kolido but I think he said re-releases were fine.

EDIT: Hmm, maybe it wasn't re-released actually. Strange 'cause I remember hearing that song a lot in the nineties. =/ Did she have an album in the nineties maybe, and that got it a lot of airplay?

I definitely thought Fast Car was a '90s tune too. Wasn't until I looked it up for the '90s comp that I relalised the error of my ways, because it definitely would've made my '80s list, but no I just had to go and nominate Debbie Gibson's Shake Your Love... ffs

I was sorry not to see it in the contest too. It didn't quite make my top 10 but I still would have liked to have seen it there.

Would have qualified as a ohw also surprisingly.

Really? That's very surprising. I thought Talking About a Revolution and Baby Can I Hold You would've also charted very well. Fast Car is her best, but she had some good ones.

Didn't some boyband cover (murder) it in the 90s?
