The board seemed a bit dead, so I decided to start a game. Only it's not a very good game. Still, I tried. The point of it is to say something that you lived through at CTYI and someone has to guess what year you're talking about.

I know it's highly likely that nobody will ever reply to this, but at least I've tried.

"I'm so old that I remember Dr. Sheila"

"I'm so old that I was in the Shower Fire"

"I'm so old that I went to discos in the Hub"

    Between 1992 and 2004
"I'm so old that I was in the Shower Fire"
    2003?
"I'm so old that I went to discos in the Hub"
    Up until 2003/4?

If we get them right can we post up our own ones?

On the topic of the board being dead, do people who go to ctyi nowadays even know of its existence? Like, I found out about this by someone in CTYI linking me here, in their "farewell note" thing. Does anyone do that anymore? It would seem, to me, to be a solution to the "dead as a dodo" quality this forum has nowadays.

Hehe I remember the shower fire...my friends were all worried because I wasn't with my RA group at the fire assembly point, but I was off watching Moulin Rouge blissfully unaware of any fires.

Post your own, even if you don't get them right. Shower fire was 2004, by the way.

I say was. There was another shower fire last night. Deja vu?...

Didn't some of us totally miss the shower fire in '04 because of playing cards in the Street? :P Good times.. :D

For various reasons, there were quite a lot of people that missed the Shower Fire. It made the whole situation an awful lot more entertaining for the rest of us.

Hey Aoibheann, how are you? What are you up to now?

I'm so old I felt a twinge of sadness for a cat which met an icy Norwegian end.

I'm so old I went on Sunday trips to faraway counties.

I'm so old I had Willy as an RA.

Respect for having Willy as an RA. I was only old enough to have him for Assistant Site Director/ Site Director the following year. My 3 CTYI years had 3 different Site Directors.

Faraway countries? Really? Furthest I went was Clontarf.

I know the only reason I ever used this forum was to find out about reunion dates and such.

Since Bebo came about, I'd imagine that present CTYIers use the page there instead.

AHAHAHAHAHA I'd totally forgotten about that! That's just made me crack up, thanks Liam!!

I'm so old I've no idea what the deal is with this shower fire
I'm so old, there wasn't a Hub when I started, and the discos were in the canteen
I'm so old some people didn't have email addresses my first year in CTYI, so people used to actually write each other letters
I'm so old, I was forced to watch Crocodile Dundee in LA :(

I'm so old I shared a class with you.

I'm so old I produced cat-kicking themed posters to use up my printer credit.

I'm so old that anyone past Willy as site director seems strange, confusing and wrong damnit!

I'm probably old enough for a heap of other things too. I'm just so old I forget them.

I'm so old that I had Sheila Gilheany as an RA.

I'm so old that DCU wasn't constructed in my first year. We just had classes on a patch of grass in Glasnevin.

I'm so old that my first course was Flint Carving.

I'm so old that the course currently called Archaeology was called New-Stuff-We-Find-On-The-Ground Studies.

as for the boards being dead. yas i did session 1 2008 and the only time it was mentioned whas when we were discussing how dead it was and how some of the threads havent been replied to since 2005/6. Around the time bebo was made? the only people here have been out of ctyi 3+ years. this is where they really talk now. ok? we swapped msns!

    http://www.bebo.com/ctyi-dcu

and apparently vinny changed the lecture a bit for the first time in years
(3 slides) if there is anyone here from vinnys first lecture that is old! and its probz the same still!
some of these threads have been made in 2000! 8 years ago when it was probs about 10 people that were all friends. and all there posts were replied within a day or two.

how about ... I'm so new i know that nobody will reply to this within 5 days and that on the ctyi bebo there will be at least 2 within 24 hours!!!

I did CTYI in 2001 and 2002 (maybe)

But I don't remember anything like that at all... I remember Dr. Shiela and a Media Studies class with a dude that was obsessed with pokemon... Did I miss out on some serious banter?
