Gastritis?

I have gastritis at the moment, the two things that have changed recently is that I changed my diet for two months to a plant based diet and I started drinking again after doing a dry January. The doc did blood and stool tests and said that my liver/kidneys were fine. My stomach is not feeling great still after three weeks I've been off alcohol for two weeks. How did you discover that your gastritis was alcohol consumption related?

I can only answer from what my partner went through. He didn't have gastritis but his stomach was not up to scratch when he was drinking especially in the mornings. There also would be blood present. I think it's the acid in the alcohol that eventually starts to irritate the stomach lining and also can do irreparable damage to the osopheugus (sp?) which is something I never thought of until the specialist mentioned it. I guess if you drank orange juice or the like in large quantities over years it'd have the same effect. A sudden change in diet would probably give you the runs especially if it's higher in fibre but shouldn't cause pain or anything. Hope you start feeling better soon :)
