What imbecile decided there would be no bus lane on the N4 crossing the M50?

Every morning there is tailback starting from 7.00, sometimes earlier. Why when they were building this bridge did they not make it wide enough to carry a full bus lane. Idiots - rant over.

Probably because they expected the tailback to be erradicated by the palmerstown traffic junction being improved/replaced in the distant future.

The city bound bridge over the M50 was an existing bridge. Presume the cost of widening that bridge was one of the main factors.

Replacing that bridge wouldn't have been a 'bit extra', it would have hundreds of thousands and added months to the project due to needing to divert traffic off the existing one.

And probably the same imbecile who decided to leave the outbound bus-stop 200m from motorway off-ramp and 500m from the shopping centre.

And probably the same guy who thought it was a good idea to force cars southbound on M50 to cross 3 lanes + bus lane to access Liffey Valley slip road.

In fairness these problems were design constraints that couldn't be eradicated, not some idiot designer.

They did their best to fix a horrible mess. You can't have everything. How would people have solved these problems easily and without adding a few million to the cost of the project?
