I love to see well executed figs. Whether it be an original paint scheme, conversion or just skilled technique; painting is by far my favourite aspect of miniature gaming (even though Im not exactly the best painter).

Could you guys maybe post examples of figs you're particularly proud of (or for the laugh, your WORST fig!), maybe with a few pointers regarding technique and colours used?

May as well attempt to start it off so.
Here's one of the first figs I ever painted (the third I think), the glue is worn out but the paint is still all there.

All enamel paint, I was going for an emerald colour.
Might tidy it up, base, and banner.

Marab I can't wait to see these boys in action.
Please tell me you've figured out a way to have Orkimus prime be a Tincan once he transforms.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,892 ✭✭✭madrab

Thinking of using him as a stompa when he is transformed :-)

Putting a Vindicator together atm. I like your use of the Defiler CC weapon on the Dread. Is is the Black Reach Dread you used there?

Does that Nurgle dread have a tzeentchian symbol on its right shoulder?

I think so... I had two plastic dreadnoughts, one from the BR set and another from ages ago. Both got heavily converted into Nurgle dreads and for the life of me I can't recall which is which.

Yes, see even the servants of the other dark gods can get infected, and then they belong to Nurgle mahahahaha!
Real answer, I just love using all the funky chaos symbols :)

I'd love to see someone make a catachan jungle fighters conversion inspired by "Predator". I assumed that this would have been done a thousand times over, but I couldnt find any examples.

Understandable, plus using two DCC weapons is a wise choice on the Chaos Dreads. Just incase they decide to open up on you your troops. At least with x2 DCCWs the worst your gonna get is some bolter shots in the ass.

The Vindicator I am working on is going to be my first bit of armour. As such the work on it isnt going to be too ambitious. Got a few old school nurglings that I'm going to stick on the top. Will model in some battle damage and a bit of general wear and tear.

Well it did manage to wound my demon prince with its bolter, which impressed us all. :)

The other dread has ranged weapons (no tactical reason, I just wanted to model it that way). Here is an old picture (I've since finished it).

Spent much of last year playing Necromunda, as a much needed break from 40k. I started with the Metal Delaque gang, but quickly needed alternative miniatures to show some of the different weapon options available to the gang. Below are some of my attempts at sculpting some jackets

    My Leader, Dwight
Actually the second leader of the gang. He usurped control of the gang some time into the campaign, but his leadership of 9 came in very useful.

    My Marksman
    th_IMGP0831-1.jpgth_IMGP0832-1.jpg

Converted from an Empire cannon crewman, the codpiece still needs to be removed/covered.

    th_IMGP0743.jpgth_IMGP0746.jpg

a few shots of Ving, my specialist. got a few lucky rolls and he's now BS5, so I invested in a plasma gun. generally does more damage than either of the heavies. Currently, he's my most valuable gang member in terms of usefulness.
The model is converted from empire free company parts for the body and arms(crossbow). the head is Catachan (I think) and the plasma gun is from a chaos marine. I decided to go with a different look for the jacket on this model, something covering the shoulders. For some reason, I keep thinking 'Frankenstein' when I see the coat

The tank ganger: a former juve who has graduated to full ganger, with strength and toughness 4 and 2 wounds. Rubbish ballistic skill though, so he's sword and hand flamer for terrorising my opponents

    Heavy with Flamer

And finally, my new heavy (inspired by 'Painless Joe', from Heresy Miniatures)

Bog standard table top, but I was wondering how I could differentiate these guys from Dark Angels and Salamanders.

    img4a9e17f91ce01.jpg

I was thinking maybe white helmets for all the terminators and maybe a white edge on the pauldrons?

    That would work.
Doing a design on the shoulderpads is another good way

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,342 ✭✭✭Mantel

You could paint the pauldrons a different colour instead of the edges like Blood Ravens. It might make them stand out more as not Dark Angels or Salamanders

Just quickly tested a few additional colours on another mini. I think the white helmets look a lot nicer.
