Cold winds return across the UK this weekend, making it feel more like winter again. Showers will also arrive on the strong wind but it won’t rain everywhere all the time.

This is a Met Office UK Weather forecast looking at Storm Kathleen recorded on 04/04/2024.

It has been a few months since we had a named storm, and now here comes Storm Kathleen. An seasonably deep area of low pressure will push up from the southwest bringing very strong winds to western parts of the UK on Saturday, and far northern areas on Sunday. As well as the disruptive winds, Storm Kathleen will drag in very warm air lifting temperatures above 20C in the southeast on Saturday.

Wet and windy weather will bring an unsettled start to the week however high pressure and milder air will move in to southern areas by the end of the week to bring a much drier and warmer end to the week. It will likely remain wet at times across the north west however.

There is some more rain to come but also a bit of warmth before something of a transition as we go through the weekend and into next week. After that there are signs for high pressure to become more dominant across the UK leading to a more prolonged dry spell than we have seen recently.
