Bought a second hand miele oven but seems to be a problem with heat, when I turn it on and set to grill and put on temperature there seems to be no problem, but when the heat light goes out the temperature seems to drop, its taking over treble the time to cook things and that's on full temperature.
It's the same on the other settings, low temperature, suggestions, ideas????

I'm having the exact same problem with a Belling cooker oven at the moment. It is fan assisted and only has a single element. I took out the fan and while there was some tarnish on the terminals it looked fine. Cleaned up the terminals and refitted the element but problem persists.

My uneducated guess is that its the thermostat. Would be grateful to know if they are readily replaced? Can they be bought easily for the Miele or Belling ovens?

The miele is probably a multifunction oven with fan grilling, closed door grilling is recommended, same would apply to the Belling if multifunction

Ya, the door would be closed but still not heating properly.

I am not familiar with the miele oven , is the temp controlled by the oven stat or simmerstat, if by the oven stat set the oven for c150 degrees and watch for the temp light to go out which should take c11 minutes, then open the door and see how long it takes for temp to cut in again, if taking longer than approx half minute at most the stat is lazy on cut in and causing the problem. If it is simmerstat control just replace the switch, if the oven stat is behaving near enough leave the door partially open and it should bring in the stat sooner.
