The fellowship of ISIS...how do they pay for a massive castle in Clonee? They seem to be going years. I remember a brilliant prog many moons ago called after dark on CH4 where Olivia Robertson (high priestess) and a host of other witches were invited to talk about the craft for 3 hours. There's been nothing like it since. At this stage she must be thousands of years old.

I'm not a member but here is abit about them from thier home page.

    The Fellowship of Isis:
The Fellowship of Isis (FOI) is an international, multi-faithed organization that is dedicated to honoring the Goddess in Her many forms. It was founded at Clonegal Castle, Ireland at the Vernal Equinox of 1976. The founders are Olivia Robertson and the late Lawrence and Pamela Durdin-Robertson. The Manifesto sets out the basic principles of this society, while this website provides details on its most recent policies and structure. It is organized on a democratic basis and all members have equal privileges within it, whether as a single member or part of an Iseum or Lyceum. Membership is free.

The Fellowship of Isis is multi-religious, multi-racial, and multi-cultural. It is dedicated to honoring the religion of all the Goddesses and pantheons throughout the planet. The Gods are also venerated. The Goddess is seen as Deity, the Divine Mother of all beings. Thousands of members from various esoteric traditions have joined from 97 countries throughout the world. (See Olivia Robertson's note regarding the spiritual affiliation of the FOI.) Members often blend their own rites with those offered by the Fellowship. The FOI was founded to fulfill the desire of those people wishing to honor the Goddess and experience a closer communion with Her both individually and as part of a group.

    However expressed, all members acknowledge
the divine attributes of the Goddess:
    Love, Beauty and Truth.

In August 1993, the Fellowship of Isis was represented at the Parliament of the World's Religions Centennial Session. Olivia Robertson, co-founder of the FOI was invited to attend, along with other appointed FOI delegates. This was the first time that the religion of the Goddess was publicly acknowledged as a world faith at this parliament. Lady Olivia was one of two women and sixteen men who addressed the opening plenary from the platform. She gave the blessings of Isis to the world. (Hear and read the FOI Prayers)

In January of 1999, the Foundation Center was decentralized and the Archpriesthood Union was created from 32 Fellowship of Isis Archpriestesses and Archpriests. The members of this Union are the Custodians of the dedication to Isis of Ten Thousand Names, and the principles established by the FOI Manifesto. They are given the responsibility of upholding the Fellowship's policies and values of Love, Beauty and Truth far into the new millennium. Eight members of this Archpriesthood make up the AU "Star of Isis", a consultancy service for the Fellowship of Isis. Further information about the: Archpriesthood Union.

There are hundreds of Fellowship centers throughout the world that a member may join in order to network or to further their spiritual training. There are also many who choose to work as solitary members within the Fellowship of Isis. Membership within the FOI provides a means of promoting closer communion between the Goddess and each member, both singly and as part of a larger group.

The "Lady" in "Lady Olivia Robertson" isn't like the Wiccan practice of using "Lord" and "Lady" in certain contexts, she actually is of the old Anglo-Irish aristocracy and the castle is part of her family estate.

    /me wonders from the topic a bit…
As for the Wiccan "Lord" and Lady", the Americans haven't had an aristocracy, in the strict sense, for over two hundred years so culturally they're don't have much baggage about it ("Princess Barbie" could only come from America) and some will use it in informal Wiccan settings, not just in a circle. At the talk Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone gave in Dublin in January (there's a thread about it somewhere amongst the dead threads of this board) it was amusing to hear how at American festivals people would address Stewart Farrar as "Lord Stewart" and then be shocked when he replied "**** off! I work for a living!" or address Janet as "Lady Janet" to which she would reply "Oh, I'm no lady" :)
