Is their an equivalant to the HTB scheme for first time= buyers who are planning on buying used property. i.e. state benefits for first time buyers, excluding new builds.

Unfortunately not, the HTB scheme is designed to stimulate construction of new builds and add supply to the market.

So there is no government help for first time buyers who are looking at second hand homes?

No. And HTB is quite likely to end as it has basically just increased prices and been drawn down by people who didn't need it.

Thanks for the feedback. Just starting the journey on looking to get a morgage and not sure where to start. Was just curious if there were any incentives for second hand homes

They don't really need to provide incentives for people to buy second hand homes; there's enough demand already.

There is the option of a Rebuilding Ireland loan: http://rebuildingirelandhomeloan.ie/eligibility/

It's not an equivalent of HTB, but it is a scheme to help first time buyers.
