Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Some overlapping with my own, I also listen to Dunphys, Off the Ball depends on the segment, GAA Hour, a few Racing Post ones, few soccer ones from BBC, european one on Talksport.I'll probably add a World Cup one if there is a decent one. Still though it's not that much could go throw most of it quick enough. Added another local GAA one today. I usually watch soccer republic and LOI games should give a podcast a listen.

    Be nice if there were a few more national type GAA ones but many of them seemed to die or aren't on enough.

    Agree. Great way to kick off the new season. Very funny stuff. But he could do with freshening up some of the impressions. He's been doing the same ones and having them say the same things for a while now.

    Some odd statistics given out during the Mayo Galway coverage last weekend regarding player ages.

    Aiden O Shea noted as being 31 at one point, and Ciaran Duggan thrice mentioned as being 23 between the team listings, match commentary and evening show.

    As both of these lads were minors at the same time either Duggan was a prodigy of outrageous proportions, or AOS picked up a phoney birth cert at some point.

    Not live. BBC iPlayer showing Fermanagh v Armagh.

    As far as I can see the League format of the hurling championship and Super 8s in football have led to the decimation of live coverage of anything other than the Provincial Finals in Football. No Qualifiers shown until R2.

    It's a ****ing balls.

    Deferred coverage is rubbish too.

    Acting the maggot to tick a box, show the game when it's on or just have it on iPlayer instead of waiting until songs of praise, the antiques roadshow or a royal wedding rerun is over on a Sunday.

    IMO the only excuse to have deferred coverage is if you have another game on during the same time slot.

    I'd rather watch it live on iPlayer tbh.

    This is exactly what the GAA want, the lack of coverage of the provincial championships is an attempt to downgrade their importance so they can finally get rid of them.If people just get used to the idea of the provincial championships not being on TV and being less important they won't mind it so much when they disappear altogether and the provincial councils will lose leverage.

    Tomorrow's game Tyrone v Monaghan has been sold out for ages. I'm not from either county and live a long way away from Omagh. The ground holds 19 thousand. There was a huge outcry over tickets. Everyone wants to see the match. Should be on t.v.

    How could we all go?

    Good, oh and by the way who exactly are 'the GAA'? Becuase whats keeping the provincial cships going is the the reluctance of the provincial councils to let go. So all these officials etc, are they not part of 'the GAA'?

    AFAIK issue is that GAA only allow x amount of Championship games to be shown live. So increasing number of hurling matches in 'Leinster' and Munster plus Super 8s in football means broadcasters have to choose.

    There is also an agreement, iirc, which means RTÃ႒‰ and Sky cannot show different games at the same time. There was an accommodation (last year?) where there was an exception made.

    Aside from Tyrone v Monaghan, Cork v Tipperary would be good to see.

    And, if Mayo draw Tyrone/Monaghan in Rd 1 of the Qualifiers, nobody is scheduled to show it.

    Question is, if RTE and Sky were allowed, would they show more live games?

    Due to family, other commitments, cost etc it is sometimes a struggle to get to even get to all your own County's games. If someone has free reign to head off whenever the mood takes you, fair play.

    I don't think anyone expects every game to be televised?
