Pocket Casts is brilliant, think it costs a couple of euro, but well worth paying for.

I use podcast republic. It's free and works well.

    I use BeyondPod.

I used the free version for ages but because I used it so much I bought the premium, which has chromecast support.

    I use 'Beyond Pod' also.

The current version looks very poor.... I'm using an old version, which is terrific.

I like Antenna Pod. Free and zero frills. Interface looks ugly but it does what it is supposed to. You can manually add RSS feeds or search Itunes.

+1 I've tried loads of podcast players and Pocket Casts is by far the best. It's really easy to use and has ever feature I can think of wanting. It's well worth the money

I use doggcatcher, does the trick. If I recall I had to pay extra for variable speed playback though.

Podkicker is very good as well.

I'm on dogcatcher too. It's handy enough. Costs a couple of quid if you want to have more than 10 feeds and variable speeds as mentioned above.
Using it for about four years and I've no complaints.

Pocketcasts and beyondpod are both decent, I've been using the newer version of beyondpod but prefer the older design which while clunky suited my needs.

Every beyondpod user preferred the old app.

So the creators put up the old version.... The link is at the bottom of the below help page...

You may have to enable 'allow install from untrusted sources' as its the direct installation file rather than something on the play store

Do any of those apps allow offline listening ?

I have an android head unit in my car and would like to have some podcasts downloaded for when the radio is rubbish.

    Yes....

You can either stream a podcast or download it to your device & create playlists & whatnot.

It works fine in the car then via aux or bluetooth.

Aah,.,... I thought you meant just a regular phone with a car stereo!

I had no idea that there was such thing as an android car stereo!!

hopefully the app will work fine in the car.

Quick update on this. I switched phone to a Vodafone Smart Ultra, and BeyondPod keeps crashing. Switched over to Podcast Republic and impressed so far. Also got Podcast Addict

    Pocketcasts is exccellent

    Big Pocket Casts fan myself.

I used to use Podcast Addict but I much prefer the layout of Pocket Casts. Costs about €1.29 but it's well worth it.
