Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Heat resistant varnish

    I'm making a lazy suzy from teak, mahogany and iroko
    I'll need to finish it with some sort of heat resistant varnish as no matter how hard I try , the coffee pot or casserole dish will inevitably be left down on it...

    Any suggstions?

    Sadolins PV67 heavy duty varnish is about as tough as you will get. Its a two pack varnish applied by brush .Better to do it out in a shed as it will stink the house out.:rolleyes:

    Have you considered inlaying brass wire, (like guitar frets are done) perhaps in circles or a grid pattern, to keep hot pots away from the surface? The brass for guitar frets is available in lengths?

    Nice idea, but I think it may be boyond my carpentry expertise!
