Twitter autobots telling me off

So I wanted to resurrect an old twitter handle. I know my username and password and when I log in I'm told a verification mail has been sent to my email. Problem is this email no longer exists. I've explained this to Twitter support but (after a few weeks) I keep getting told to contact my email provider.

Its nothing to do with email provider though as there is none. The email address used was my own domain and I have let that domain lapse. All I've asked is no update my email address to a new one and if they call me I can verify whatever they want about the account but these bots keep saying contact email provider.

Very frustrating, anyone think of another way? I could resurrect domain but I wouldnt be bothered just to resurrect a Twitter account
