    things to do in Limerick....

cycle up to the golf balls admire the view of the city and cycle back down again... have a barbequeue the weather's fairly good now.... go to the lobster pot and get two battered sausages and a garlic cheese chip.... put posts up on boards.ie.... write a book.... have a game of "danger fork" which involves having spaghetti on your fork putting the fork on the edge of the table balanced like a seesaw then hitting the handle of the fork so the spaghetti goes flying into the air all over the window and ceiling... clean your window and ceiling... go for a run along by the river either out to ul or by the condell road.... play football.... go to the cinema, I'd recommend "sin city"... buy grand theft auto san andreas, it's just out for the pc I'll be doing that once i get my next paycheque

... go watch Limerick FC at Rathbane they're third in the First Division now and they're playing Sligo Rovers Friday night and if they win that they'll go top

[sarcasm]Yes, and Fair Green in Garryowen is absolutely jammers with people playing baseball and American Football[/sarcasm]

I was just saying what myself and my friends do!!! I dont know where Fair Green is (except in Garryowen.. but i have no idea where that is either) and i cant think of many friends from there... so i dont know! But I guess the shops keep selling out of Baseballs (god damn ... whenever i run out shops are always sold out ...'we're getting them in next week')... ahh, i hate that and the new 'extra' thing in Argos, grrr, it just says what u cant get (and its all the best stuff), baseball bats are now in all shops and Fotball is increasing popular too!
Most of my friends play Soccer, Baseball, US Football and Basketball! You got that country thing going, you like GAA (I dont go at that... except that one argument at LSA), thats your thing.. cool.

[sarcasm]Yes, and Raheen in Limerick is absolutely jammers with people playing Hurling and Gaelic Football[/sarcasm]

See that can work two ways, people play different sports in different areas, hell sometimes i play cricket (not my choice)!!!

I've been in swimming in the river by St. Michaels (ok I was thrown in as an introduction to rowing), not as bad as you'd think. (not recommending it, shower afterwards was long, hot, and thorough). Like I said on another, there used to be annual swims in the river, think poor man's Kilkee was swimmable at one stage.

I love the list of stuff to do under the 'adult' category....museums etc. Have you never heard of Ellen Street?!

Nope! never heard of it. What is it anyway?

Ellen Street is the one where Quinns used to be (formerly the Vintage Club).

It's also the address of Utopia (Limerick's first adult shop) and some other "adult businesses".

There is also a "casino" type place there, seemed pretty serious the time I was in it.

Savage lineup in Dolans over the next week. Kila this Saturday, Declan O' Rourke the following Saturday and Josh Ritter Wednesday. I think it's time to visit that old spot again. :)

I don't know if I agree with the idea of there being loads of things to do in Limerick...I moved back a while ago to buy a place of my own and have to say I have become very disillusioned with the place. It'll always be my home but I think unless you're married with a family it can be a very boring place to be. There isn't any work social scene either as most people drive home after work as opposed to where I was living...and there's only so many times you can visit the hunt museum and the belltable!...although saying that dolans is good if you can get any of your married friends to bother going out!

Keep checking the Dolans, UCH, Millenium Theatre, Trinity Rooms and Belltable websites for upcoming stuff.

Monday nights theres a free movie in the Belltable Film Club on a Monday at 8pm.

There are a ton of festivals this time of year, with many free events, see Limerick Post (as soon as u get it, they usually advertise THAT weekend).

Limerick Lions basketball, next game is Saturday 19th at 3.15 in UL Arena, there'll be lots of giveaways and 'festive fun' during the game.

The Ice Rink is back in the potato market (by city hall) from the 14th.

Theres The Georgian House And Garden, I think its doing something for Christmas too.

Limerick City Art Gallery is right across the road and free.
Also free is the Limerick City Muesum.. beside King Johns Castle.

Also check out the sports listed on the first post. Failing that theres always the bus to dublin! :P
