Grace McKenzie scored 5609pts in the Texas Relays yesterday and today. Her Hurdles time of 13.63 is good for 5th on the Irish all-time list and she also had a PB of 6.08m in the Long Jump.

Michael Norman ran 43.45 for his season opener at the Mt SAC relays yesterday! It's the fastest ever time before June 19th.

The world record is going down this year!

    Multiple times, I'd say.

Kate O'Connor broke the Irish junior record for the Javelin (49.31m) in a Heptathlon in Italy.

She needs a decent performance (about 2:18) in the last event, the 800, to break the Irish senior record by about 100 pts.

A somewhat below par 800m means Kate only broke the Irish record by 66 pts, with 5881 pts.

    Also a junior record.

Super to see these results today. John only 6 seconds off the world qualifier. Would love to see him get it.

I think anyone who has seen him run at his best has been expecting a breakthrough like this at some point in his career so I'd say it's a weight off his shoulders in that respect, whether he gets the world qualifier or not. I think he could do damage over 10,000m too.

Two other young lads with super 5000m times last night, Michael Power in 14:04 and Pierre Murchan in 14:06 as well (both u23 and there are another two u23 under 14:10 this year).

Some good results in the European Combined Events - Bowler finishing second and Ireland finishing second over all too.

Looks like the 3 lads all got PB's - slow 1500 for most of the athletes.

And some of the girls got PB's too.

It will be interesting to see how many times the womens Heptathlon will be broken over the course of the next few weeks.

Grace seems to be out of action with injury, Elizabeth will be going in the U23 Euros later this week and Kate in U20 Euros in a couple of weeks. Not sure of Elizabeths form though as she hasn't done a huge amount recently while Kate has been doing a lot. Both should go well - however you never know with combined events!
