One by Metallica is pretty thought provoking

As far as I'm drunkenly aware, the song was based on the Dalton Trumbo film Johnny Got His Gun. And to avoid paying royalties on the video, Metallica bought the rights to the film.

It's a brilliant song and it ties in perfectly with the video/film.

I’ve always thought Pearl Jam’s “Do the Evolution” was really impressive... you certainly have to admit a lot of work went into it.

Bjork had some that stood out. I remember when these came out and i think a lot of her songs take time to grow on you so the unusual videos kept you watching and listening.

Good shout with Bjork. She was always good for a standout video. I know she had a few made by Michel Gondry whose videos never disappointed. Massive Attack Protection would be another good one from him actually.

How could you not "get it"? :D

Yeah he's great. He's had so many good ones over the years.

Well first time I watched it it just looks like crappy train footage,I didn't get it. Only when you look closer the various sounds correspond with or are represented by the various objects in the footage which is a neat idea.

Ye that really is an iconic one. Such a difference in how he looks and moves compared to his last video and the last footage of him on film! I appreciate his last video though.

Saw a documentary and it was very difficult for him physically to do because he was so sick and you can see that. They said even his clothes touching off his skin was painful and they had to shoot in black and white. It must have been a very emotional time for the band on set.

Not a Metalica fan tbh and not fussed on this song but it was good how they brought the film into the song and video. That film looks creepy af!

    Johnoy got his gun
Edit Johnny / Metallica bought it cos the film was worth soo much less than the royalties they were paying

Death in Vegas have some good ones. Dirge is eerie and Aisha is great, like watching a horror movie!

    Ditto!

I pretty much like any "concept" music video. My personal faves are the ones Meat Loaf did for all the singles from Bat Out Of Hell II through Welcome to the Neighbourhood.

The most recent one from Aphex Twin is a cracker, visuals and graphics by Weirdcore.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)
