It could be a tough day for the Scots. Some scary power in this Tonga side.

Decided to stay watching the Leb-Fra match as it's the first close one of the tournament. 18-12 to Leb now

Taumalolo powers through two men to get Tonga's second try.

Update: And almost immediately Tonga get a third. Jennings.

Lebanon get their first ever world cup win

Michael Jennings has got a first half hat-trick. Tonga go in at the break 38-0 (should have been 40 as an easy kick was missed). I feel sorry for Scotland.

Was surprised they didn't run in a lot more 2nd half tonga ,was thinking at worst 5/6 more ,the physicality difference was ridiculous

Australia take on France today, kick off at 9am. It'll probably/definitely be France getting a shoeing.

Hammering in the end. There will be more interesting games over the weekend. Samoa Tonga should be good on Saturday, then a huge game on Sunday for Ireland against PNG.

I heard France made a good effort. Shame they ended up with that bruising result.

Looking forward to the Ireland game. I'm going to try and watch the UFC event before it so I don't know whether to try and get a few hours sleep, or just stay up all night and watch through everything. It will be tough either way!

Just the 14 tries for NZ v Scotland in another one-sided affair

Kiwis were accused of disrespect for fielding a weakened team against Scotland, imagine the damage with a full strength team.

Tonga beat Samoa 32-18. The result never really looked in any doubt.

Reminder that England v Lebanon about to start on BBC 2

Comfortable but unconvincing from England. Still, first win on the board.

Huge game for Ireland tomorrow morning, if they can be close (within 6 points) to PNG with 20 minutes to go i think they could win it. My reasoning is the sheer physical size of them, they'll end out of steam before the finish.

    We can hope anyway.

Bookies have PNG by 16. Well they were wrong last week so fingers crossed!

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,535 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

The conditions will be very tough. I just hope the team can be in the contest and give a good account of themselves. Mark Aston's gameplan worked a treat against Italy and I gather he has worked with some of the PNG players at Sheffield so hopefully he has a nice plan in store. It should be a great occasion. I just hope I'm awake for it!
