    Hi all
    Just a quick question.
    Say when fishing for mackerel, using feathers.

    Is there a chance of catching other types of fish.

    pollock,,many more,,try flasher rigs and u can get anything

    if yet in a boat bait de feathers, leave on de bottom jigging up an down gently , you will pick up cod , whiting & ling ! no point in baiting feathers on shore you'll only snag ! wont get that variety onshore anyway !

    Black feathers are great for pollock and bright feather with rubber heads are good for cod and both of these will catch mackerel aswell
    Often seen lads using tin foil on bare hooks catching mackerel on dunlaoghaire pier

    White feathers are a good all-round feather for catching all sorts. Happy fishing ;-)

    Are there many Mackerel been caught? I know they're around at the mo but are the in abundance yet?

    not sure,,they are rotten to eat this time of the year
