Ah good man Freshpopcorn I only thought about the checklist last night and was wondering if it was due soon!

Again if anyone has any suggestion or ideas of anything they'd like to add to it just shout! :)

Christmas RTE Guide could be added and in Cork the Holly Bough arrives in early November but that's a Cork thing.

Oh I love this thread! I love a good list! :D

Could we add Blackberry Picking/Jam Making Season in August? For me, that's a big sign of summer is ending and it's nearly Christmas season!

The release of the film Toystory 4 is officially on the 21st June 2019. I can’t wait to bring my 4 year old to see it.
Would love to see this added to this year’s list!

    I totally love this list!!

But, I see that Burns Night isn't on it? 25th Jan, exactly one calendar month after Christmas (and a fine excuse to keep anything decorated with tartan or deer out in full view!)

I think we should be baby Jude on the list

The Young Scientist of the Year is due to be announced today!
This iconic competition is definitely part of the January calendar.

Maybe the longest and shortest day of the year would be good for the list. You know the “ grand stretch in the evening” and “ evenings are pulling in” always pinpoint that we are either sliding towards Christmas or Summer

Just use the 2018 one as a benchmark, that was pretty good to be fair. Dont remember much missing from it. A few obvious changes like the football worls cup/Rugby WC etc. but it was essentially spot on.

Added Superbowl to the list as it's one of the first landmarks I associate on the road to the Christmas Bowl :P

I've marked a few off too... does anyone know if the young scientist has taken place yet or Argos catalog launched yet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,415 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

I think the Young Scientist was on in January - not sure about Argos

Argos is out, no idea about young nerd scientist of the year. :pac:

Is it this change when we 'stick' and clocks going backwards & forwards become a thing of the past?

I must admit i love the 2 extremes, long winter nights around christmas & the long summer nights for getting out running, walking or playing with the kids, looking forward to the summer now, just hope its a decent one.

I think it's 2020 or 2021 when it comes into effect and we get to choose with one to stick with. Not sure which one I would go for to be honest, probably summer time for more light in the evenings.

Think the coming winter is the last 'winter' time - I thought it was summer time we were sticking with??
