Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Logging Out

    Any ideas as to why I am constantly being logged out after around 5 mins ?

    Are you logging in via a third party Gmail, Twitter, FB etc or are you logging in with you username and password?

    Sorry for delay Ronan.

    Not using 3rd Party to log in,just Firefox browser on PC.

    If I am writing a long response,and I then submit reply,I am directed back to sign-in panel,which when I use it presents me with a blank page.

    My workaround has been to select all,then copy & paste after going through the sign up procedure again.

    It's a pain,and I suspect It's something simple ?

    That's odd behaviour.

    Under normal circumstances, if you log in via a third party service then you will only remain logged in for the duration of your session. The upshot of this is that after 24 minutes of inactivity you will be logged out of boards - hence why you may find yourself logged out after composing a very long reply.

    However if you login using your username/password combination your session should last for three months before logging you out assuming of course you don't delete your boards related cookies within that period.

    The blank page you are seeing is a minor bug allright - it's because the login system is trying to redirect you back to the post you just created, however that post didn't get created because you'd been logged out while composing. I'll mention it to the dev team and see if there's anything that can be done about that.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
