Our house has an alarm system which we don't use. Nevertheless, it is consuming electricity, and occasionally outputs warning messages which are annoying.

To disable it, and disconnnect from the electricity supply, do we need to call out an alarm company? Or is it something we could do ourselves?

I've looked to see if any one of the fuses is solely for the alarm system, so that we could disable it that way by just flipping the fuse, but it doesn't look like there is any.

There would also be a back up battery that needs to be disconnected.
When the system is powered down the external bell may ring for a time. On newer systems that is 15 minutes. On older systems that could be hours or longer.

Should have a spur fitted but if not, there is a fuse normally inside the control panel that can be removed along with battery connections.
